What’s the last game Ubisoft came out with that had any real success in the public gaming consciousness?
Rainbow Six Siege from 2020?
They just don’t make great games.

Yeah, I remember this game being pretty good and seemingly getting little attention.
I’ll probably look into getting this remake to experience it again.

I often had to deal with ships landing kinda far away, so I’d start running to get to them, but they’d fly away within 30 seconds and before I could get to them.
What’s the point of having them at all if they’re going to land for like 20 seconds then fly away?

How do you learn programming on paper to be sufficiently effective when translating the skills to the computer?
I get that it’s the same stuff, but there are very useful tools and workflows, in addition to knowing what you’re doing wrong that you can’t learn on paper.
Or am I misinterpreting what you’re saying; that you just didn’t look for resources online to cut out distractions, but programmed like normal?
- Comment on It seems Gen Z is just fine with parents knowing where they are all the time 1 year ago:
This is really what it comes down to, I think. When my newborn daughter gets old enough to have a phone and go out on your own, you bet I’m going to make sure I am able to know where she is at all times.
But I’m going to trust her to do the right thing and make good decisions, so I won’t be demanding she go only where I designate. Kids need to be able to do their own thing and learn through experience. The better lesson is to have them check in with a text every now and then, because it’s the respectful thing to do with family.
- Comment on Google forced to reveal users' search histories in Colorado court ruling 1 year ago:
Would you still feel the same way if the DMV was set on fire and you were a suspect because you’d searched for directions to the place?
Or if you had searched that address because you were looking for homes in the area to compare with what you wanted?
It shouldn’t be enough to make a Google search to assume an individual is a suspect in a crime.

It really REALLY needs a QOL update. What I hadn’t mentioned in the previous comment is that sometimes the thumbsticks will randomly switch to inverted while I’m moving parts around.
Like literally, it’ll suddenly change to up is down, left is right, etc. No idea why it happens.
- Comment on Wish list 1 year ago:
There definitely needs to be a ship marketplace where people upload their designs and can be listed by popularity. To download and use it, it would just cost you the cost of all the parts. Easy.
- Comment on Wish list 1 year ago:
The biggest problem I’ve noticed with ship building is that you can only get certain parts from certain ports and if you delete a part that you got from a different port, just to see how it looks, you then have to fly back to that port to undo the change. It’s extremely tedious to have to fly all over the place just to try out builds and designs.
There really needs to be a design saving system so that you can go back to designs you’ve already paid for.
- Comment on The #Starfield gameplay loop 1 year ago:
I just wish that when I set a course for a specific spot on a planet in a different star system, that I didn’t have to go back into the menu to select it again and land.
Just land me on the spot I specifically set a course for so that I can skip a loading screen.
- Comment on Some of Starfield’s planets are meant to be empty by design - but that’s not boring, Bethesda insists 1 year ago:
After 30 hours, I’ve honestly seen no reason to upgrade my ship. It’s just a speed bump to fast travel.
And the main critique I have is that there isn’t any real discovery. When you go to most of the new planets, you’re given one to three points of interest, you land there, and see an “abandoned [something]” overrun with enemies. You clear them out, generally get nothing of value, then move on. It’s quite repetitive gameplay.
Outside of following quest lines, there’s not much reason to explore.
- Comment on Is it just me or is Starfield kinda meh? 1 year ago:
It’s funny to me how many gameplay cues Bethesda took from No Man’s Sky.
And yet, they made exploration worse because there are no seamless transitions between anything and the places that you can visit have literally no reason to explore them.
I spent 20 minutes exploring an abandoned mine, killing a bunch of Spacers and got literally nothing out of it. Wasted 4 digipicks for rooms and safes that had nothing of value in them too.
- Comment on Is it just me or is Starfield kinda meh? 1 year ago:
I have a recommendation for running out of ammo and health packs: spend the time searching everything. There are boxes of ammo everywhere to the point that I’ve never gotten close to worrying about running out.
Yes, it’s tedious, yes, it’s probably not great gameplay to have to spend so much time searching rooms, but it helps you not run out of ammo.
- Comment on Is it just me or is Starfield kinda meh? 1 year ago:
Okay, I’m somewhat early game: what is up with the reloading times? Seriously, I’ve died a few times because the reloading speeds are so slow and you can’t run and reload at the same time.
Is there a skill I’m not seeing?
- Comment on Is it just me or is Starfield kinda meh? 1 year ago:
What I think plagues this genre of game is that the sense of discovery is not there, like it is on a “2D” plane. What I mean by that is this:
In a game like Skyrim where you have essentially a 2D plane of area to explore, you can see in front of you all the things that are possible even without using a map. You can play the entire game without a map by following roads, seeing things that pique your interest, and just go there.
However, in a game like Starfield, you can’t go anywhere without entering a menu and going through 4 or 5 loading screens. And you HAVE to use the menu to go places instead of just walking to something you see in the distance. It’s a huge barrier to organic discovery. And on top of that, purposely, there’s nothing to do on the vast majority of planets AND THEN, even the things that are on planets are so unimportant, they may as well not be there. An anomaly I found on a planet was 1000m away, I walked to it, and all I could do was scan it for half a second. It was just a waste of time. Buildings don’t actually seem to have anything to do in them. Caves are all empty.
It’s fun to think you can explore the galaxy, but making it too real makes it much too boring and much too difficult to feel that you’re actually discovering anything.
