I’m not sure if SSDs were really cheaper before. RIght now, I’m seeing about $0.043-$0.05/GG. From what I recall, that’s about the same or a little better than what we had in 2023.
However, I very much agree that prices should have decreased much further in that time.

There are several options here below $90 (including a couple nvme ones), and a couple at or below $85: pcpartpicker.com/products/internal-hard-drive/#t=…

SSDs have gotten much cheaper. 10 years ago, they were over $0.50/GB, now they’re just over $0.04/GB That’s over 12 times cheaper.
You can get a 2tb ssd for $85. 10 years ago a 2tb ssd would’ve been super expensive and very boogie.

Not op, but I have the galaxy fold 3 and it’s amazing. I’ve had it for 3 years and I can’t go back to normal phones. And I’ve heard the same from many others that got their first foldable.

But it’ll also allow you to just carry 2 batteries and swap if needed. Even if you don’t want to do that, when your battery ages enough that you can’t at all go through a typical day, you can easily change it out yourself to a fresh one to refresh your phone.

You can get an add-on for the genesis mini that adds this: www.play-asia.com/mega-drive-mini-tower/…/70crmd?…
It’s not functional though.

It also smoothly supports all dolby/dts stuff with no fuss. To my knowledge, there’s no way to get dolby vision working on an HTPC.

Yes. I have the fold 3 and will ask for another foldable when the time to upgrade comes.

I’ve had my fold3 for over 2 years and I absolutely love it. I don’t think I can go back to a bar-phone now. Also, even if you really don’t like folding phones, why fight creativity? Before this phones were getting so boring and completely lacking innovation. They still are in the non-folding market. Even if you don’t like them, choice is never a bad thing.

I’ve had my fold 3 for over two years and it’s still perfectly fine and I’ve dropped it quite a bit. I even dropped it hard once on asphalt while biking full speed. Tbh I got lucky with that last one, but still, these phones are plenty durable.

I have the fold 3 and love it for this reason. It’s fantastic for reading articles + manga. The nearly 4:3 display is fantastic for retro games. Additionally, a surprisingly large number of memes are in a 3:4 aspect ratio. Also, the outer display is great for one handed use.

Imo, it’ll take 1-3 more birthdays until a new one comes out. Is there anything specific you’d want them to upgrade? The only clear thing they’re missing right now is av1 support. Given that it’s still the best player on the market, I’d say go ahead and get it. Maybe try to find one second hand to save a buck, that’s what I did earlier this year 🙂.
