It’s a really interesting article about something we might not think about.
It’d be interesting also to try to see how much money they can save by using a lower bitrate or saving energy by using less servers.
It’s a lot of things we take for granted when we’re just watching a show and you don’t think about all the work behind it.

Tilvids was easy and worked for me.
But yeah Peertube still needs some ease of use features.

I can’t agree, but I can agree to disagree with you.
For me as long as you’re not paying for some form of art, you’re not supporting the artist, so you’re stealing.
But I’d be the first one to download a torrent if something I paid for kind of disappeared like this.

As long as you have a way to download the data that ain’t a problem for me, but if one day Sony or EA closes without giving the update data to be available for everyone that would be a problem.
Still I don’t see the advantage for them to only put the early stages on the disc. Are they saving money this way?
- Comment on ‘My whole library is wiped out’: what it means to own movies and TV in the age of streaming services 1 month ago:
It’s good that people are worrying about this. Although, I haven’t heard of any disc game not being able to be played. I guess it would only happen if Sony/Microsoft go bankrupt or decide to close PlayStation/Xbox game updates servers.
It ain’t likely to happen but it’s important to be able to preserve games for the future as they are part of history just like paintings.

I can understand piracy when they take away something you’ve already bought, but I’d not want to do it for something I haven’t bought yet.
I wanna be able to support people creating what I like.
- Comment on ‘My whole library is wiped out’: what it means to own movies and TV in the age of streaming services 1 month ago:
That’s why I’ll keep buying physical for the games or movies I love.
The only question I have is what’s gonna happen as game discs are just becoming an access token to download the game and its updates.
I’d have nothing against digital games or movies if you didn’t see such behaviors.

It’ll be interesting to see what it changes for us consumers.
What I’m happy to see is that they talk less about games as a service lately.

I’ve played FFVII remake and I’ve played 45 hours of rebirth and I’m enjoying it so far.
Maybe less than the original but I guess I’ve changed in 25 years and I want more mature and less japanese dialogues.
- Comment on Final Fantasy Maker Square Enix Will Aggressively Pursue a Multiplatform Strategy After Profits Tumble 1 month ago:
I’m fine with this as long as I’m still getting FFVII part.3 on PlayStation.
To be honest I don’t really care about exclusives and I think it should just be for first party developers.
Although I wouldn’t mind getting Gears of War on PlayStation.
- Comment on Bloomberg - Apple Says No Major App Developers Accept New Outside Payments 1 month ago:
I can’t read the article, but I ain’t surprised by the fact that no one wants to pay more than what Apple is already billing.
They are clearly trying to circumvent the rules just like the bad company they are.
Still I have to admit that their hardware and software is quite good even if I ain’t a fan.
- Comment on Ghost of Tsushima, on Steam, will be unavailable in countries without PSN 1 month ago:
Except getting more user information, I don’t really see the big advantage for Sony so it’d be interesting to know why they want to require a PSN account in countries where you can’t get one.
Also I’d want to know why you can’t get one in some countries.
- Comment on Cyberpunk 2077 director thanks fans as the game hits a 95% positive review rating on Steam 1 month ago:
I loved the world, enjoyed its story but didn’t like the combat as it felt a bit messy and I felt overpowered as a hacker.
After two playthroughs, I’ll probably do the expansion at one point but I don’t know if I should play it from one of my playthrough or from a new save.

Played it two times on ps5. Once on 1.50 and once on 2.0. I haven’t experienced crazy glitches…

Sim City 2000 used to be my game and I’m looking for the same vibe on a non-demanding game I can play on my Surface Go 1 with Fedora.

And the lack of a real story on top of the base management just finished destroying the game.

Good news I guess as I’ll never again buy a new computer which can’t be upgraded in the long term.
It ain’t my vision anymore and I hope more and more consumers think about buying second hand or buying upgradeable computers.
- Comment on Just finished MGS2 and wanted to share a peak moment (Mild Spoilers) 1 month ago:
Incredible game series until Kojima went crazy with its base management and soldier recruitment.
MGSV was such a disappointment that I’m trying to erase it from my memory.

I’ve never really written about a game, but I’m admirative of people who are able to while still enjoying the game.
The only time I tried it was on Reddit to try to redeem Dead Space 3 and encourage people to still try despite what they could hear about it. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t well written at all, but it was really sincere as I enjoyed the game 😅

I was talking about channels, reviewing games and so on.
Not the odd homemade video…
Something that you could follow long term to keep being informed, like IGN or gamespot for instance.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 month ago:
I still have to really try it, but last time I typed « PlayStation » and there was almost no result…maybe it’s just the lack of content though…

Give what you can and if you can’t it’s also okay.
I’m only giving 1$ a month to the Linux Experiment, but, according to him, that’s way more than what he would get from me watching his videos on YouTube.
I’m also donating 100$ a year to many open source projects, but I might have to give up because of financial troubles too…

Some of them can be supported through Patreon and they’re getting way more money than through YouTube.
But it’s through that it lacks content and it’s also difficult to find content on peertube.

Lemmy topics are now found in search engines but I’m almost never specifically looking for something in Lemmy as I’m just browsing through my feed.

- Comment on Reddit embracing all out enshittification 1 month ago:
Yeah of course you can find everything on Reddit and clearly not that much on Lemmy.
But Lemmy is the perfect alternative for me. I only go on Reddit through web search results on Ecosia. It’s really only useful for when I’m looking for a specific answer to a specific subject.
- Comment on Apple keeps flogging 8GB of RAM for its Mac computers but it's still a dead horse 2 months ago:
8GB is enough as that’s what I have on my 2019 Surface Go.
But that’s a device I bought 399.- (almost the same as dollars) 5 years ago.
So I don’t think it’s okay to sell a new laptop with Pro in its name for a high price in 2024. Especially because it wouldn’t cost them much to upgrade the RAM.
It’s like buying a 30bhp car in 2024. Yeah it’s enough, but not for the price of a normal car.
- Comment on The Sega Dreamcast 2 months ago:
I had a lot of fun on this console, but I don’t think it would have been able to compete with Sony and Microsoft.
Maybe if it played the Nintendo way, deciding to be really different and not focus on power but on simple games.

Yeah I tried Nebula a while ago but sadly it lacked the content I was looking for.
I’m into Linux, cars and basketball and none if these were well represented. Maybe it’s different now.
I’ll have a look at Greyjay.
