- Comment on The Framework Laptop 13 is about to become one of the world’s first RISC-V laptops 1 week ago:
Kudos to Framework for their absolute devotion to their mission of readability and interoperability.
These sort of projects show that it’s people passionate about open source technology at the helm of the company and that is something I want to support.
- Comment on Underground sandbox adventure Core Keeper hits 1.0 on August 27 1 month ago:
The game has a great atmosphere and is best compared to Terraria. I will say that some of the later areas are content light but overall it’s a fantastic game.
- Comment on Connected cars’ illegal data collection and use now on FTC’s “radar” 1 month ago:
In the past I would have been dismissive however the FTC seems to have been very active with enforcing consumer protections as of late so I remain hopeful.

Psilocybin has shown a correlation between use and improved mental health but please modulate your expectations and make sure you have a trip sitter if you go down the self medicating route.

- Comment on Linux share on Steam bounces back to nearly 2% for March 2024 2 months ago:
Sort of a rant but…
I hate that Discord doesn’t support Linux screen sharing audio by default. I hope more programs start to support feature parity for Linux.
At the same time I wish there was more I could do to push alternatives forward because it’s quite clear that any profit driven company will succumb to enshitification and I think that Discord perfectly encapsulates that.
That being said there was no way I could convince my friends or anyone else sign up for Matrix instead of Discord.
- Comment on Internet providers have left rural Americans behind. One county is fighting back 3 months ago:
Right because having private companies in control of a means of free speech has always worked out fine
- Comment on Internet providers have left rural Americans behind. One county is fighting back 3 months ago:
Why anyone ever thought it was a good idea to let private industry take care of a utility is beyond me, internet should be treated like water and power and handled by the city.
If anyone has any trouble with this why don’t you go check out the Texas power grid

- Comment on But isn't it dead too? 4 months ago:
If this is a legitimate concern, my grandmother used to tell me to boil the water and then let it cool down, this will remove the chlorine.
I’m always done it I’m not sure if it actually helps plants much. She also said to always use room temp water

Jokes on you I never delete anything even when I really, really should. I have to remind myself of my mistakes. How else am I supposed to take responsibility.

- Comment on Nuclear Fusion World Record Smashed in Major Achievement 4 months ago:
Of course! Was just nerding out. It does seem like they have a lot of barriers to a net positive reactor but it definitely seems like one possible way we could do it!

The US has become such a fucking deregulated hellscape and I hate that Canada is following their lead.
- Comment on Americans are asleep, post European windows 4 months ago:
I used to work for AT&t and it was all to common get someone cancelling while crying because their life is over and their credit is ruined because of the cost of a surgery that could never afford to pay. Sometimes we’d give them a couple months or something but a system like that shouldn’t exist
- Comment on Can't even buy chicken in peace 4 months ago:
I think it’d be more correct to call this example selection bias but survivorship bias does not have to involve morality.
It simply refers to data which misrepresents the likelihood or severity of a failure state due to some failure conditions being excluded from the data. This leads to overly optimistic projections.
- Comment on Now that it is getting legalized everywhere, Cannabis should fall under the jurisdiction of the ATF rather than the DEA. 5 months ago:
They mentioned the ATF. It was explicitly US centric
- Comment on Honda debuts new global EV series, Honda Zero, coming in 2026 5 months ago:
Also because with the way out emissions standards are enforced it’s more profitable to make and sell and SUV or truck class vechile so they’re marketed harder.
Holy fuck do I love capitalism.
- Comment on Chick-Fil-A staff in the rain. 5 months ago:
I just don’t see how a pedestrian friendly place of business and a drive through can co-exist. Open to being proven wrong but as I see it, anywhere that incorporates a drive thru ads at least 3 areas where traffic intersects with customers at the beginning, around the store and the unavoidable blind spot when leaving.
Not trying to take away from your ability to enjoy these things I just don’t think they are a good solution to a public good, as with anything car centric.
- Comment on Chick-Fil-A staff in the rain. 5 months ago:
Not trying to downplay the right to your opinion but I feel like there has to be a better way to allow parents to enjoy options while also not making restaurants hostile to pedestrians
