They’ll probably just fork forgejo add some slight “ai agentic” bullshit and market it as their own product.
I was going to say hopefully the forgejo licence doesn’t allow that but then again, OpenAI have shown they don’t really care about copyright or anything like that
- Comment on We conduct affairs of state in a building that’s riddled with asbestos and mice. Can’t Britain do any better? 2 weeks ago:
If they managed during the pandemic I think they can handle it now. I would like some departments to be moved out of London but I get that London is a talent draw so some staff would not like to move.

That’s still pretty high, we have all the same problems as the US, just on a 2-3 year lag it seems
- Comment on New train stations part of £14bn UK government rail funding promise 2 weeks ago:
Glad there’s a north Wales station included. Would have liked to see the proposed Greenfield station on the coast line included but the Deeside one is good, especially once the Padeswood work is done to improve capacity.

- Comment on Waymo raises massive $16 billion round at $126 billion valuation, plans expansion to 20+ cities 4 weeks ago:
I wonder how it’s handled, is it a newly trained model for UK driving? If it’s just the US model but told to drive on the left it will be disastrous. UK driving standards are so much higher than in the US, plus tighter lanes with often completely worn out road markings. Think I’ll just avoid London for the first 6 months they are active
- Comment on Why is Pixelfed an extra network and not just a Mastodon client? 5 weeks ago:
I guess it’s a case of “why not”. I’m sure someone could make a client that does the same thing but there’s a few features of mastodon that are geared towards text content rather than just images (quote posts). Likewise there’s probably some features that make sense for an image first platform that probably aren’t needed for mastodon (showing camera setting used).
Hopefully federation between the two does improve to the point that you maybe couldn’t tell at first glance of a profile is on one or the other.

- Comment on Microsoft CEO warns that we must 'do something useful' with AI or they'll lose 'social permission' to burn electricity on it 1 month ago:
AI industry needs to encourage job seekers to pick up AI skills (undefined), in the same way people master Excel to make themselves more employable.
Has anyone in the last 15 years willingly learned excel? It seems like one of those things you have to learn on the job as your boomer managers insist on using it.
- Comment on Grok AI key to Sport England suspending X account 1 month ago:
While I would accept a ban on X, the easiest way is to just to move away from it. If enough government, celebrity, news/sports accounts stop using it, the less relevant it becomes.
I can’t take a government seriously when they announce they are looking into banning X, whilst still being on it
- Comment on Businesses call to be included in any pub rates backtrack 1 month ago:
What is it with pubs and politicians. I get they are culturally significant but you’d think they are the only place people go outside of home and work in the uk with how they always make exceptions for them.
I feel like you can’t cut rates for pubs and not for cafes, for example, as there’s hardly anyone kicking off ant an costa and needing the police to show up.

They’ve done this with a few other games. I remember the EU5 review being really choppy and it turned out they were running it on like 6-7 year old hardware. It might just be a cost cutting measure to not buy the latest stuff for all their reviewers but I basically ignore most of what they say now.

Do we even have a big issue with underage drinking anymore? I see loads of articles about kids now not drinking as much as older generations, how many are getting drinks in proper venues vs house parties? Looks like the government with a solution in need of a problem to me.

I can’t see them actually undoing it. It will just become a thing that is no longer enforced. Once one company stands up to it and refuses to pay the fine, and the uk can’t force them to pay, others will do it. Once enough do it the UK will stop trying (hopefully)
