Part of Frankenstein’s rejection of his creation is the fact that he does not give him a name. Instead, Frankenstein’s creation is referred to by words such as “wretch”, “monster”, “creature”, “demon”, “devil”, “fiend”, and “it”. When Frankenstein converses with the creature, he addresses him as “vile insect”, “abhorred monster”, “fiend”, “wretched devil”, and “abhorred devil”.

I could also live without it, myself. There are some very nice conveniences associated with the overall ‘family hub’ suite of functionality, but it’s all bells and whistles and not truly necessary of course. But the partner and our spawn appreciate it and they’re happy, and that’s good enough for me
- Comment on Samsung brings ads to US fridges 2 weeks ago:
I mean, I probably can’t disagree with your sentiment in a general sense, I’m just not sure how this refrigerator nonsense is contributing?
- Comment on Samsung brings ads to US fridges 2 weeks ago:
It knows because there are cameras inside the fridge and it can recognize the items you put inside and remove, and has logic built around all of these observations.
It’s not perfect but I’m surprised how often it’s accurate, especially in a household that doesn’t give any shits whatsoever about refrigerator organization.

I definitely did not think they were being rude, and thought their reply was hilarious.
Sometimes I reply with these bland and lifeless replies, knowing full goddamn well what the OP is saying, just to get the conversation juices flowing. This one went great till I noticed all the downvotes 😵
- Comment on egg 2 months ago:
Wtf, dude, I fucking lol’d at your joke, and I’m just floored at all the subsequent downvotes. I’m so sorry, I really only meant to trigger a fun conversation but something else happened… 🤷♂️😅

Sounds like an interesting experience, for sure, but I wouldn’t call it the expected result from trying a little bit of stinky tofu, sorry that happened to you. I use it as a condiment with my rice dishes all the time and enjoy it quite a bit.

I think I understand the pixel you are referring too, it may be diagonally adjacent to the click pixel.
I’m not sure I understand ‘why’ post OP suggests that should be the ‘correct’ click pixel?

- Comment on are there bots that downvote every comment users have? 5 months ago:
Just fyi, some Lemmy clients (e.g. Thunder, probably others) show the upvotes and downvotes distinctly, so you can easily see something like ‘2 1’ which corresponds to ‘upvotes downvotes’. It’s makes it easier to see if there are downvotes versus removed upvotes.

Why is advertising ok, but any response in opposition of it, is not?

Two years of negotiations - that’s absurd. How many games products have been released under the MS umbrella in that same span?
Companies: I know you don’t care, but you can easily treat your employees as shareholders and deliver value to them, just the same as delivering value to customers. You release products iteratively, just treat the people helping to make it happen with some dignity and deliver to them as well.
- Comment on US appeals court rejects copyrights for AI-generated art lacking 'human' creator 6 months ago:
Why does Thaler want to assign copyright to a non-human so badly, when he could simply take the credit himself?
We can see he made references to the fact that Corporations are considered people (fucking citizens united) in his arguments to the court.
Could someone perhaps use the result of the failed cases in an attempt to get citizens united overturned, based on any precedent set through Thaler’s appeals? Maybe that’s too hopeful of a take?
