I don’t know how the Google thing works, but I disconnect the cellular antenna before driving a car off the lot, and the speed thing still works for me.

My 9 year old car had it as one of the options to show in the heads up display. It’s pretty convenient. But I can switch to something else or turn it off if I don’t want it. As long as it stays that way, there’s no need for frowny faces yet.

Your car has no impact on them, and neither does you laptop’s hardware. But supporting old browsers would fe more work for their devs, so they likely have limits there, like not supporting IE6.
