- Comment on The Fallout TV show gave the Fallout games a huge player bump, as everyone remembers they like Fallout 4 weeks ago:
Steam just had a free weekend so I’ve been playing it. I like it a lot and I do think it’s worth playing, but it’s definitely a clunky console port, the added latency of forced multiplayer doesn’t do it any favors, and the amount of QoL locked behind microtransactions or a $13/month subscription just feels bad.
- Comment on Are phone notification LEDs still a thing? 6 months ago:
I think the problem that notification LEDs were designed to solve is just solved in other ways now, notably smart watches or the Always-On Display for OLED devices. Both consume more power than a notification LED would, but they also don’t require a dedicated physical space on the phone.

Payday 3. Having fun learning the heists when matchmaking actually works, but it’s been a bumpy launch.

Excellent read. And now compulsively back to endless scrolling.
- Comment on What is your favorite domain name provider, and why? 8 months ago:
Porkbun, mostly for the cost, transparency, clean UI, and ease of use.
I’ve used GoDaddy, namecheap, and Google Domains in the past. GoDaddy is the only one I had a problem with, but Google sold to Squarespace recently, and I prefer porkbun to namecheap for the reasons listed above.
- Comment on Google rolls out anti-stalking measures for AirTag and other Bluetooth trackers 9 months ago:
My understanding is they’re a Bluetooth device that do not have direct Internet access on their own; how is their location being updated if you’re not pairing with them to allow them access to your device?
Apple allows them to connect to any device in the “Find My” network and phone home, regardless of whether it who it belongs to. Presumably that includes you driving next to someone with an iPhone if the tag is in your car. It’s supposed to also notify devices that it is travelling with if their owner is not nearby, but that requires you also have an Apple device (or install and actively use Apple’s Tracker Detect app for Android)

Seems to have worked out ok for the music industry.
