ineligible I think.
I was high and couldn’t for the life of me spell it

That seems bullshit.

Trump is inelagable to be president after their second term, the line of succession would jump to Johnson.
Never been tested in court tho so I’m sure it’d get by. But at that point why even care about the rules?

I don’t think federation saves us. If the server owners are in the states they still have to comply. I don’t know for certain, but I think if there are us citizens using it, some laws might compel non us based servers as well.
The only way around it is that I can think of is tor. That doesn’t make it legal it would just be harder to stop.
All of this is assuming the US justice department would even care enough though.

I bet you could sync issues if you were bored enough. It’d be a pipeline that you have to maintain and two way syncs are a pain to maintain, but I bet it’s doable

Not that I condone Microsoft, but if it is a sanctioned country (Russia, Iran, North Korea, etc.). Microsoft will be in shit with the US government if they let it there.
If the project has contributors from there, then I guess they need to move off GitHub like they did.

I probably won’t, every time I open android studio I get mad and do something else, and apple I hear is even worse. If someone wants to blaze the trail for us I can help clean up stuff and write other code other than the front end.
If you want to get some folks together though I’m game. There is lots to do in a software project that isn’t coding if you want to contribute to that stuff.

I can code but I hate the mobile app dev. If you want to start something I’m game to write library code

Sorry yeah, Linux academy. Don’t know why I thought it was digital ocean

I want a generic fediverse app that lets me use all the services in one spot. Don’t think that exists
- Comment on Self-Hosted podcast 1 week ago:
What ever happened to that network? I stopped paying attention when digital ocean dropped them all
- Comment on 2 weeks ago:
Yeah that’s what I’m doing next. My domain name/DNS provider doesn’t let me do it though so i have to self host DNS first. Turned into quite a rabbit hole, and would have just worked if I could just get traffic on port 80!

Just use a GitHub page. Super simple and driven by your source code.

I just gave boost $4 to remove the ads. I prefer OSS and Non Profits absolutely, but I also acknowledge that we live in a capitalist hellscape and good things take money.

For sure. I am starting communities on stuff I want to talk about.

Yeah, the biggest issue to me is users. It is still pretty quiet in the niche communities where in reddit you’d have a lot of eyes for even the most obscure topics

I think this is kind of what crypto is supposed to solve. All of those platforms have to have a relationship with a payment processor and that means they may not compatible across instances. A federated space to share and display crypto wallets could do it maybe. But I don’t understand crypto really and feel like the current incarnations are scams.

There is nearly always a contract and the business will submit tax paperwork with your compensation to the IRS.
Under the table workers are illegal and on their own
- Comment on Not allowed to work from home 5 months ago:
I’m an American and I’ve always had a contract. Even in retail. Of course the contracts are all bullshit and just a waiver of my rights.

I didn’t read it as humour I read it as a threat or perhaps a dig on trans folks?
Regardless I didn’t need to escalate.
- Comment on Not allowed to work from home 5 months ago:
Yeah, or even just budget cuts. I am sure it’s cheaper to just lock it down.
- Comment on Not allowed to work from home 5 months ago:
I was at a subsidiary of a very large company and had work slack, email, and all my code on my phone, without even the thing that lets them remote wipe your phone.
It has to do with culture and willingness to put in the effort by the security organization
- Comment on Not allowed to work from home 5 months ago:
What does your contract say? With this back to work bullshit I made sure my contract explicitly said I was remote.
Doesn’t mean they won’t change their mind but maybe I’ll get severance instead of fired for cause of they have a back to the office push.
- Comment on Intuit possibly succumbs to the Streisand effect 5 months ago:
The hell does that mean? They are a shithead CEO, doesn’t need to be more than that.
- Comment on I found a weird IP address on my network that had transmitted an insanely small amount of data. I put the address in my browser and got this. what the heck am I looking at? 5 months ago:
That is IIS, all it means is you are probably talking to a windows server. Is the traffic encrypted? What port is it going to?
