- Comment on Instagram quietly drops end-to-end encrypted chats 6 days ago:
My understanding is that Whatsapp is “real” e2e and it’s based on signal protocol. That app is the main IM in many countries so they’ll probably won’t mess too much with it
I didn’t really expect Instagram or messenger to be really encrypted
- Comment on Samsung's latest update is a serious gut punch to Galaxy power users 1 week ago:
Maybe I’m confuding tools but I think I used Odin to flash my s10e. I didn’t jailbreak it, I just updated it from a carrier locked firmware to the official Samsung version

I mean good-ish in the lesser-evil type of thing. I don’t expect any of those to be 100% ethical but there are some that are a lot worse than others
I don’t really have a computer capable of running a local AI. I have an i3 laptop from around 6 years ago with 12gb of RAM and integrated graphics

No, I mean good in the sense of less evil. I don’t ask any question to a bot where I need complete accuracy

Is there a “good-ish” AI chatbot? I uninstalled chatgpt and started using claude over the weekend 🤡
I don’t use it that much, maybe a couple of questions a week and some help understanding Japanese grammar
- Comment on Car Wash Test on 53 leading AI models: "I want to wash my car. The car wash is 50 meters away. Should I walk or drive?" 3 weeks ago:
Even when they give the correct answer they talk too much. AI responses contain a lot of garbage. When AI gives you an answer it will try to justify itself. Since they won’t give you brief responses the responses will be long.

I meant Strava, I don’t have a Garmin. I use Strava (I pay for premium) and I like it and they keep adding features (I mostly ignore their AI)
After 3 free apps that I used to track my runs went under or really enshittified I decided it was worth it to pay for something I liked

What do you feel they have been enshittifying?

Do you have Android or iPhone? AFAIR the issue started because Google wanted to collect 30% of the sales

You can’t get Kindle books on the Amazon app, you need to go thru a browser or the Kindle app

- Comment on How far do you wear your daily shoes out before bothering to replace them? 1 month ago:
I walk a lot and I use them until they are no longer comfortable to walk
I have flat feet and I usually wear down the soles in an angle and I start walking “funny”, creating more issues.

The only thing I need to run on windows now is for H&R block tax software. I wonder if I can try it with wine but I’m afraid of losing the activation license

- Comment on PS5 ROM Keys Leaked: Sony’s Unpatchable Security Nightmare (2026) | The CyberSec Guru 2 months ago:
nobody bought the ps5?
Key Figures & Estimates (Late 2025/Early 2026)
PlayStation 5 (PS5): ~84-86 million units (crossing 80M mark by late 2025).
Xbox Series X/S: ~34 million units (estimates vary, but well behind PS5).
Nintendo Switch (Original): ~154 million units (still selling well, nearing DS).
Nintendo Switch 2 (New): Starting sales with ~12.4 million units by late 2025 (estimated).
84 mil seems like a lot. PS games have always been discounted, contrary to Nintendo games
- Comment on xkcd #3187: High Altitude Cooking Instructions 2 months ago:
I’m not sure if it’s still the case but most of the population in Mexico is above 3000 feet so recipes had variations for sea level instead (the recipe was made for 1000msnm)
Sometimes it was confusing if you got something imported from the US or some brand that needed to be adjusted for high altitude
- Comment on My N64 game collection. Not the most expansive but it is a lot of fun. 2 months ago:
Something from that game messed with my head. Whenever I played I had a lot of trouble sleeping at night, it didn’t matter if I played 10 minutes or 2 hours or what time of the day I played it

I feel the same as you, my wife loves celery and puts it on everything but I feel like it subtracts flavors on most stuff. She eats raw celery all the time, I can maybe stand it with a lot of ranch next to some buffalo wings

- Comment on Microsoft AI CEO Puzzled by People Being "Unimpressed" by AI 3 months ago:
My cousin just finished his MBA from a big college, he is so proud that he used AI for most of his assignments, he used 3 out 4 subscriptions to make it “more human” and “not mistakes” and so they couldn’t detect it easily
He said that everybody in his courses was using AI and that most group discussions were about which AI is better, so it makes sense that those managers are so excited about AI, because it was able to do their “meaningless” jobs so they think it can do anyone’s job, but he doesn’t see the irony that he would be the first to be replaced
