- Comment on Monster Hunter Wilds sales top eight million in three days 5 days ago:
I’ll never pay $70 for a game. Still waiting on Dragons Dogma 2 to go on sale. Even if it’s the same with inflation, why would I pay that for an unpolished product that still nickel and dimes me?
- Comment on Does Monster Hunter Wilds still look and feel like dog water? 1 week ago:
Specs? Settings? I can run the game fine as well if I upscale from 240p.
- Comment on Eurogamer: we can't recommend the PC version of Monster Hunter Wilds 1 week ago:
You had to make the game look as terrible as possible and use fake frames to have an “enjoyable” experience. How is that acceptable? What about that is worth $70?
You should be getting a stable 60fps @ 1440p on medium settings with a 3070ti at the bare minimum. MH is not visually impressive enough to justify how demanding it is. If you think otherwise look at RDR2 performance.

What’s crazy is I still can’t make it onto their website without waiting in a 20 minute queue. Stupid.

Good question. I bet there’s decent money to be made in prompt engineering.
- Comment on Google’s new AI video model Veo 2 will cost 50 cents per second | TechCrunch 2 weeks ago:
It sounds better at $30/min. Still stupid expensive, so it better deliver. As of now only tech enthusiasts are using it to say “haha look what I made”.
But when these video generators are more fleshed out they’ll be competing with stock videos, and likely are now. The value proposition is there if you’re a company buying custom imagery from professionals. Exciting to see how this plays out.
- Comment on Bad UX is keeping the majority of people away from Lemmy 3 weeks ago:
If you mention Lemmy, point someone towards a specific instance so it’s not so much of a shock. Then they can slowly learn about what it is.
- Comment on Is PeerTube dead or is discoverability bad? 4 weeks ago:
Most established hosters would be fearful to run an instance of peertube. Costs could balloon out of nowhere and would only increase with time. There is no way donations would keep up with costs, and charging to watch or a subscription would never take off.

I don’t see the need for insults.
These “human rights” were given to you by the current established powers. When those powers change the definition of good and bad do so as well. That was the intended message of my original comment.
It is naive to say “we don’t need to understand why they did it” when, taking your stance here, it’s imperative in preventing the “enemy” from taking away your “freedoms”. But I see it differently, take one of my favorite quotes: “You judge yourself based on your own intentions, and judge everyone else on their actions”. Call it optimistic, but I don’t believe most people intend to cause harm, but make their choices based on their experiences and understanding of the matter.
So, I feel it’s ridiculous to proclaim anyone as enemy, especially withstanding their reasoning. But you do not have to agree with this.
- Comment on Is a Quest 3 really worth it? 3 months ago:
To give you a real unbiased answer as someone who’s actually used the headset, the Quest 3 is the best VR headset you’ll get for the money. Pancake lenses are amazing, performance is really good, software has gotten ages better since launch. Meta throttles the chipset a lot, with QGO (an app) you can meet or be just under PC quality on most games, but the base headset is fine by itself.
As for games, there’s never been a better time to hope in. But I’ll be honest my Q3 is practically a beat saber machine at this point. I haven’t found another game to be as enticing. Pistol whip was meh, I couldn’t get into B&S or Asgards wrath, Metro Awaking isn’t my type of game. It’s really up to you to decide how valuable VR is.

All it takes is a couple investors and that all goes bye-bye.
- Comment on Bluesky Becoming New Social Media Sensation As Millions Of Americans Snub X Over Musk's Support To Trump 3 months ago:
Very few people have had their car purchasing decisions influenced by Musk, that’s evidenced by Tesla being the top 3 best selling EVs in the U.S. in Q2. Their sales will decrease as competition increases. You could make the argument the lack of competition is what maintains their sales.
This is why they’re leaning hard on FSD, it’s the only thing that could realistically make them stand out once the EV market matures. We’ll have to wait to see if V13 delivers (was supposed to release in October…) in order to gauge their future as a company.
- Comment on We are a lot more alike than we are different 3 months ago:
You make this argument and it immediately falls apart because people revert to “Well they want to do this, this, and this, so they actually are an enemy”
You see it here in these very comments. If you are different from the “normal” you will eventually be hated, regardless of whoever is in power. It is human nature. It has not changed, it will not change.
People, families, tribes, nations have risen to power and subsequently lost power. It’s cyclical and will continue until we are inevitably wiped out by ourselves or the universe.
- Comment on Why are people preferring Blue Sky over Mastodon? 3 months ago:
Every platform and app I’ve seen does a piss poor job of explaining what federation is and how to sign up. “Wtf is mastodon.social?, Why is this one in German?, Why can’t I login after signing up?” New users just get confused and give up.

- Comment on [MEGATHREAD] Starfield - Your experiences! 1 year ago:
Unfortunately it isn’t what I wanted out of this game.
Loading screen to land on a planet, loading screen to leave my spaceship, no seamless entry into caves or buildings. Planets and space having boundaries. Can’t use my spaceship to traverse.
Glad people enjoy it, but I was looking for something more akin to NMS or Star Citizen.
