If there’s someone prepared to argue in court about why the UK’s Act is a terrible idea, holy crap it is NOT 4chan
- Comment on Why do new Silent Hill entries attract so much negativity? 6 days ago:
The original Silent Hill games were created by an internal group within Konami called Team Silent. This team was formed by underperforming Konami staff to work on a Resident Evil competitor that Konami higher-ups wanted to underperform and give them a chance to fire said underperforming staff. Instead, they struck gold with SH1.
Team Silent suddenly had a level of fame to themselves, but they were still Konami’s red-headed stepchild. 2-4 were similarly successful, with 2 being the high point of the series.
After SH3, key staff started to depart from Konami. By the time the 5th game, Homecoming, came out, much of the original team had been replaced with those more aligned with Konami bigwigs that wanted to turn the series into a moneymaker instead of the quiet success it was built as.
An example of this is the Silent Hill HD Collection for PS3 and X360. The ‘remaster’ of SH2 and 3 was anything but. They had to make these remasters with incomplete codebases, no original staff to question, even some of the original voice acting was missing because Konami straight-up deleted the original source code.
There are those that say that SH never recovered from the gutting of Team Silent, and they tend to get louder with each entry into the series. Sometimes they have valid points, but not always.

- Comment on Got any security advice for setting up a locally hosted website/external service? 2 months ago:
You might want to set up dynamic DNS for your domain. If you’re hosting from a residential internet connection then your ISP will change your address eventually. Ddclient can be used to report your current IP to your Registrar regularly, so if it changes the domain moves along with it.
- Comment on Over Synology, and looking to build my first home lab. Could use some advice on parts... 2 months ago:
Build is solid, but here’s some suggestions.
- Another 8TB HDD. the reason being you can merge the 4 drives of the same size into a RAID5 array for data redundancy.
- An SSD to install the OS on.
- (Optional) More RAM check the mobo to see the max size and speed it can handle, and then fill every slot with that.

I tried Joplin for a while but dropped it, too simple. Also tried Trilum, which I liked more but it’s still a very young project.
Eventually, my Obsidian vault will go there, but not just yet.

- Comment on What are the minimum or recommended requirements for a personal home server? 3 months ago:
Rather than give you specific recommendations, here’s some guidance for parts Mobo: The more slots you have for RAM and storage, the better. CPU: literally anything. More cores and faster cores are ideal, but CPU requirements for these things are generally lower than a desktop. RAM: Buy 1 stick of the fastest stuff your motherboard can handle. When you’re ready or you start to see slowdown, buy another of the same stick. You can get far on 16-32GB, you won’t need much more until later. Storage: an SSD for the OS and one or more HDDs for storage. PSU: generally anything in the 500-700 range will be good. You’ll want more if you plan to put a GPU in, though.

- Comment on Windows 10 LTSC – the version that won't expire for years 4 months ago:
I’ve been using 10 LTSC for a few months now, it works great with the few Windows-only apps I still use. I mainly use it to organize my media library, but it’s not had any problems with the few games I’ve installed with Kernel-level anti-cheat (Destiny 2, Delta Force)
I had to download the Xbox Accessories app to control my Elite controller, but that’s really it.

Call of Duty 3, World at War, Black Ops 1, Modern Warfare 3, and Black Ops 3 all have local split screen Co-op as an option
- Comment on Which co-op first person shooters would you recommend? 5 months ago:
There’s technically a reason.
The OG Xbox version made by Bungie was ported to PC by Gearbox back in the day, and the port made some changes to the game in the process. More visual than gameplay oriented changes, but purists will say they ruined the game. The Gearbox port is what they built Halo Anniversary (the Xbox 360 remaster) and the TMMC version off of.
