- Comment on I this a firm and polite way to tell an opinionated coworker to stop pushing his agenda I don't care about? 4 days ago:
I have a very similar problem but in my case the coworker is my boss. I have basically had to tell him he is wrong and that nothing he is going to say to me is going to change my mind and that I want no more of that conversation, I then change it to something work related. Sadly this has become the new normal. Thankfully my boss is expected to retire in December so I just need to wait it out.
My coworkers tell me that I am the hero of the group for shutting the boss down in such a loud and aggressive way. But its so exhausting.

I still had this on my clip board from earlier, when I mentioned it in another thread. One of my favorite parts of one of my favorite songs. The Dead Kennedy’s Stars and Stripes of Corruption. If you have never heard it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=983DwAOCXRI
But what can just one of us do
Against all that money and power trying to crush us into roaches?
We won’t destroy society in a day
Until we change ourselves first from the inside outWe can start by not lying so much and treating other people like dirt
It’s so easy not to base our lives on how much we can scam
And you know it feels good to lift that monkey off our backIf you don’t know the song, its chalk full of cynicism and angst. But it ends with a good message. The fast beat and quick rythmic delivery of the lyrics with the beautiful surf guitar…
If we don’t try
If we just lie
If we can’t find a way
To do better than this

Maybe, originally it was a perfect rendition of a lion but a hundred years later, it got rubbed off and some old lady thought she’d fix it.
It’s happened before!

discussions like this always bring me back to the Dead Kennedy’s song Stars and Stripes of Corruption
Not only is the music one of their greatest, but the lyrics are Jello Biafra’s best. If you have never heard it, imagine surf guitar, fast pace and a poet that can unleash lyrics at bullet speeds while staying in tone and driving the beat. The end of their career finally and IMO their magnum opus. The lyrics are just so good. Here is one part that I really think about alot…

It was considered the greatest challenge for a hunter to take one alone.

I have been IT support for medical researchers and that application is a BEAST. Installing and configuring it can be a nightmare. Especially when the researchers aren’t proficient in it already. Watching someone who is good at it is like watching the pinball wizard.

The senior staff at most unions are people who have thought about physical labor and the skilled workers who do production work. Programming as a profession is still relatively new career path.
My first union tech job was in the medical industry and we had to jump in with the nurses to find representation. It was good enough but our jobs were dramatically different. And our pay and benefits were much better than the nursing staff. The union had a hard time being able to deal with both of our different problems.

The biggest obstacle to unionizing in tech, none of the unions know how to represent technology workery. I have been in a couple unions as a tech worker, but those unions were historically representing different classes of workers.

Yeah I hear that. At one point I was thinking why didn’t they turn the ai generator on the random shit instead of the world. Like there’s all these worlds and only one package type for everything? The immersion could have been amazing if there was 50 different packages of Chunks or whatever.

Red Dead is a work of art. It’s just shameful that Rockstar has neglected it.
Starfield is such a piece of shit, it actually gets me upset thinking about how bad of an experience it was. I finished it just so I would know how it turns over and I’m still angry about it. Thankfully I waited until it was less than $50
- Comment on It would be terrifying if it were to actually start raining men. 3 weeks ago:
In the book series Red Rising, there’s a part where one army terrorizes a city by flying over it and dropping all the POWs it captured. Lots of them dropped from low orbit but high enough to take a bit to hit. The character that describes it suggests that the city looks like the windshield of a transport after driving through a bug swarm. It’s such a brutal and horrific description of the violence. In a book series that really does a good job at describing violent uprising, that part really painted a vivid scene in my head.
