You’re not a moron, you learned something useful. My experience for the past 20 years is being a moron over and over again, and I make sure to transmit that knowledge.

As far as I remember, there were people virtue-signaling this kind of conflict, even before the internet was a thing.

- Comment on Brave appears to install VPN Services without user consent 8 months ago:
The harm is that it’s installed. There is no reason for doing this. It can be done on demand in one second if the user subscribes to their VPN.
It also shows once once again that they keep on doing their shady shit and still cannot be trusted (or at least that they are a bunch of incompetent developers).

- Comment on World EV Sales Now Equal 18% Of World Auto Sales 8 months ago:
Those numbers do not reflect any kind of reality and feels like science fiction to me. I’m looking at reasons to change, and so far, I just can’t physically and financially get an EV.
Once they sell a cheap and small EV with a real battery, I will change.
cost more over time
I wish hipsters understood that there is no “over time” for poor people.

10 000 € for a new car, not a used one.
- Comment on World EV Sales Now Equal 18% Of World Auto Sales 8 months ago:
The cheapest Dacia or Skoda (according to the internet) costs 20 000 €. My car cost 7000 €. I don’t care about TCO if I can’t afford it to begin with.
It gives me 13 000 € of fuel for free, which is more than 10 years, the lifespan of the car.

It will change when electric cars cost the same as a regular car. The cheapest EV in France is 3 times more expensive than my car. I can’t afford it.

It was tested by some administration that loved, probably because their existing application was worse.

Years ago I joined a startup as a junior developer to work on a patented security application with SSL certificates and stuff. They had been working on it for 5 years, 10 engineers and 2 guys with PhDs, it was serious business. The thing was a prototype but it was fun to work with them. I was porting their app on Mac OS X because the founders were sure that it would also be a success on a Mac.
Then one day I bought a HTC Desire to try this Android thing since I already knew Java. After a few tutorials, I realized that I could clone their whole app in 100 lines of code with the Android API in less than a week, but it would be better, safer, and portable. I knew we were doomed. They closed the company a few months after because no one wanted their application.

It depends.
UK because of all the cameras in London. China because you need a VPN to browse the web.

No one said it’s made up, just that we don’t know what it is.
From your link, it seems that the “software architect” is the closest equivalent. He must have a broad knowledge in a bit of everything from the code to talking with clients in order to make good decisions for everyone.
