Another week in the books. Let’s chat about manga in the general discussion thread! Feel free to use this thread for questions, comments, recommendations, etc.

Not much to write about this week but I did find a new (well, unknown to me) series so there’s that. Here’s what I have:
that the marriage bomb was meant as a “soft reset” to step over the whole mess with misunderstandings and lack of communications.

Maybe author will go back to wrap it up eventually but I’m won’t be holding my breath on that.
I hope not tbh, that entire thing was a mess and I wasn’t very invested in it because of that.
I do hope the mangaka can get things going again though, not as convoluted this time.
Ending the entire thing would be better though, but I get that the mangaka might not want that now that’s probably a pretty stable source of income. That’s the both the up- and downside of serialization I suppose.
It’s not that I was super invested in or enjoying that arc, I simply hate story threads being swept under the rug without proper (or any, really) conclusion. It’s mostly a personal gripe rather than a genuine wish towards the series to be honest.
I’ve started reading Hitoner. It’s a really fun manga about a human being an alien on a planet where pretty much every animal has gone through a similar evolution as humans have

Started on the Akame Ga Kill series recently and i almost finished with the sequel Hinowa ga Crush! I am a little disappointed when i found out it got axed. (had the feeling halfway through with how the story was progressing and how little chapters there was left.) Oh well.

How does Akame hold up these days? I remember reading it a while ago and even though it wasn’t the best thing ever, I did enjoy it well enough. I’m curious if this opinion would survive a return after so much time.
Bonus question: have you seen the anime adaptation?

I think it held up quite well. I enjoyed reading it more than rewatching the anime adaptation because the second half of the adaptation was not good. (It ran out of source material to adapt)
Found the story to be intriguing enough to pick up the manga to see the proper ending and i am glad i did. The prequel was a nice read too. Fan service +200% and you get to learn more about Akame (why she ended up betraying the Empire) and about her sister too.
I like the setup of the sequel and the direction it was going, such a shame that it got axed. I will definitely pick up the continuation if Tashiro ever comes back to finish this story.
