What do you mean? You can clearly see the ninja isn’t budging (yet).

The second half of the game is a bit divisive but if you end up enjoying the game despite that I can wholeheartedly recommend the standalone expansion, Crysis Warhead, as well. It fixed some of the issues from the base game while keeping the tactical options and semi-open world.
Both gameplay and story are a little bit more “action movie”-like, but even then, it doesn’t compromise the original experience. It’s pretty fun.

I recently found out that after 5 or so years of nothing someone finally picked up Travel Gal! A Cross-Japan Bike Travelog again. Not only that, they posted translated chapters of the whole thing already. I’m super happy right now, even if it’s a bittersweet kind of happiness.
As the title suggest, it’s a story about a gyaru who, after learning about her best friend getting married, decides to travel through all of Japan on a bike. Why bike? She gets motion sick real fast in any other mode of transportation. So she has no money, the bike isn’t hers and she knows nothing about such endeavours but she goes for it anyway cause “it should only take 3-4 days”. It’s a pretty fun story filled with trivia and actual useful travelling tips. It’s also a bit horny (though it’s not the main focus) so watch out for that if it matters.
It was unfortunately cancelled (by the author, I think?) after only 27 chapters, which is a huge shame as I like it quite a bit. At least I’ll get to finish what’s there. Finally.

Great, I’ll keep an eye out. Good luck!

I forgot to ask in the original thread so I might as well do it here - do you have a specific release plan for the story or is it the “will post when it’s done” kind of thing?
No pressure intended, it’s just that the first chapter was interesting so I’m curious what to expect.

Do you ever hperfixate on something to the point of spending almost every free moment of your time on it? Even if the thing in question isn’t something you’re a huge fan of? That’s exactly what happened to me over the last week. I’ve been on a binge of listening to Ridge Racer soundtracks, watching retrospectives and other videos as well as playing Ridge Racer 2 (the PSP one). It was pretty much non-stop RR time until I “finished” the game - it was great!
Was being the keyword here. After reaching the credits I unlocked duel races and they… these races are honestly the most miserable experience I had with this game (or any other racer I’ve played so far). I’m all for challenging content but simple stages with limited drifting opportunities mixed with opponents in much faster cars than you do not make for a fun challenge. I dunno, maybe I’m just bad at the game but it really felt less like a skill check and more like an RNG encounter even when driving “perfectly”.
I managed to beat one of these guys and after trying the second (out of three?) I don’t really want to play any more. It was enough to rip me out of this trance and make me go “you know what, I think I’m good on Ridge Racer for now”.
An unfortunate end to a pretty fun week but I can finally go back to Reverse Collapse. That’s a win, I guess.

While I started reading a few interesting series last year, the one that stuck with me the most turned out to be the simply titled Unexciting Date. There’s no grand story, no suspenseful drama or eye-watering action, just two awkward goobers going on dates. Simple premise, nice dry humour and somewhat unusual protagonists - it was a surprise hit for sure.
Is it the best series of last year? I honestly don’t know but reading it makes me feel really nice and warm and I enjoy it immensely. That’s good enough for me.

Reverse Collapse: Code Name Bakery
I’m going very slowly with this one as I don’t really have the time to play and when I do, it’s usually at the time when I’m not in a headspace to think as much as this game requires me to. I still enjoy it though! It’s one of very few titles that can successfully push me towards regular use of items instead of hoarding them “just in case”. This game will not be kind to you if you’ll just try to breeze through blasting without second thought but it will give you the tools to survive if you cooperate. It’s especially important if you’re try to go for all objectives on each stage as these can be a bit tricky at times (nothing too crazy though). I really like it so far, both in terms of gameplay and story. Can’t wait to see what awaits me later.
The Division 2
I wrote in the past how both Division games are something I tend to come back to semi-regularly. Well, it’s this time of the year again, I guess. Whenever I want to play something but don’t have the brain power to deal with Reverse Collapse, this is my go-to at the moment. Still plays great and the loop is just as addicting as it’s always been. I honestly didn’t expect to like and stick with these games as long as I have. The only thing I dislike about TD2 is how manhunts, (side?) story segments about various mooks, can’t be played in their full form. You can only go through a simplified versions of them which cut off some of the presentation and narrative parts. It’s not as bad as vaulting in Destiny but it’s a crappy half-measure to… I don’t really know. I never looked into how the devs explained this decision but it sucks. Still, outside of this one issue the game is still great and I don’t regret spending my time with it.

On one hand, A Cool Girl and a 12cm Promise got some new English chapters after two months of quiet. On the other, I once again have to migrate over 20 series due to Mihon source getting hit.
You win some, you lose some, I guess.

- Comment on PC game recommendation for my partner and I 4 weeks ago:
Older games are purely singleplayer, multi is something they leaned on later on. For PC Rayman Legends also supports local co-op, I believe. This one however is only available on Steam and requires Uplay account or linking your Steam to it. Origins is available on both Steam and GOG - I can confirm the latter version does not require any additional accounts or services.
Finally, there’s Rayman Raving Rabbids but that’s more of a mini-game compilation/party game rather than a platformer. It also has multiplayer.
- Comment on PC game recommendation for my partner and I 4 weeks ago:
Sine you mentioned platformers, Rayman Origins might be worth a look. It’s a 2D platformer from 2011 so it doesn’t require a lot of power, levels take a few minutes to complete so it’s perfect for short sessions and it has local co-op (up to 4 players).
I tried it recently on my desktop (Pop!_OS, ubuntu based) and Steam Deck, played without issues on both of them.

Serious Sam: The First Encounter
I once again spent most of the week jumping between games with no specific plan in mind. My main idea was to play Serious Sam: The First Encounter but this, after a long and complicated process, ended up in complete failure. I actually tried to play three different versions of the game: classic, HD and through Serious Sam Fusion. Each of them came with their own problems which made them unplayable, specifically: - Serious Sam: The First Encounter (classic) - camera would point straight up randomly, regardless of mouse movement. Also a lot of rendering issues. - Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter - same camera issue as above. - Serious Sam Fusion - game won’t even load levels properly and loads to a black screen instead (no crashing or freezing). I tried various in-game settings, WINE versions and their parameters - nothing helped. After a few hours without a success I decided to give up and keep looking instead.
Reverse Collapse: Code Name Bakery
After all of the mess described above I finally landed on Reverse Collapse. I actually played it on launch, back in 2024, but my brain was in no shape for this amount of thinking so I set it aside “for a bit”. I’m glad to finally be back. RC is a 2D XCOM-like tactical RPG, with less focus on randomisation (different approach to hit chance, hand made maps), varied (often tricky) missions and lots of gadgets to help you survive each encounter. It’s also heavily focused on the story with a set cast of characters which may be a good or a bad thing depending on the player. Game has some nice quality of life features, like: - Really good controller support (perfect for playing on Steam Deck). - Glossary, accessible during cutscenes (game even shows notifications whenever a new keyword is used to let you know when to check it out). - Pre-mission briefing screen with map and enemy layout, as well as a list of enemies you’ll have to face. - Option to toggle enemy vision range (useful during stealth) and attack range. I only came back to the game last night so I’ll need a few more sessions until I brush off the rust and have something more to write about. I can however say that if anyone’s interested in this kind of tactical titles, Reverse Collapse is definitely worth a look.

Completely understandable. Getting annoyed or defensive is a pretty natural reaction when people just downvote and move on, without articulating their reasons. I get why people did it but I also understand the frustration.
Current state of social media can be a pretty draining experience.

As the other posted said, it’s easy to see something like this and get the knee-jerk reaction of “stupid ads!”, especially in a place like fediverse where many people are overly sensitive towards such possibility (I know I am). I’m always curious about new stuff to listen to so I’ll make sure to check it out when I can.

Didn’t have time (or energy) to look into my issue with Mihon chapter updates so I stuck with catching up on the stuff I post - mainly Unexciting Date, with an odd Mary-san and Maid Skater getting their surprise updates.
Things will probably stay this way for the next few weeks but I’ll be keeping my eyes on the community anyway in hopes of finding something new. Can’t let the backlog get too short, you know.

They also do Bandcamp Fridays! These are the dates where all of the revenue goes directly to artists, without the usual 15% share for Bandcamp. Here is the list for this year if anyone’s curious.
