Ah that’s sad to hear! Makes sense though.
so I’m hoping we’ll actually get an anime-original ending for once
Yeah, not so much original, but an addition to it!

Got the final volume of My Dress-Up Darling last week. It’s a decent final volume, but it feels a bit rushed and disjointed.
Still, I loved the overall manga a lot. My favourite arc is the Haniel arc. I think the mangaka did a stellar job portraying the haunting captivation the characters had for that fictional manga character and thus managed to captivate the reader too (at least for me). That’s gonna be tough to adapt to anime.
I’ll probably reread the entire manga soonish.

It’s back!
I was wondering how the dragons were gonna look, but damn, that’s a proper dragon. Doesn’t seem too happy.

This anime sure is willing to explain everything except why trying to murder an entire village was deemed necessary or acceptable.
No, the village (whatever that means) sending assassins after Asa (and her parents?) is not valid. I doubt all adults in that village are involved.
I know I keep repeating this, but it just annoys me so much. The anime clearly wants me to care about/like Gabby, Asa and Jin, but this whole mass murder thing is kind of in the way of that.
The way information is (not) divulged is so unnatural. There’s no excuse for Yuru not to ask for more detaila other than forcing suspense. Like, Asa says things related to Higashi village multiple times that should make Yuru question everything, but he just… doesn’t. He doesn’t inquire further. What’s the point of all this exposition by the perpetrators if it brushes past the reason the events in the anime even started.

We did get a hint and yes it was interrupted, but the convo itself had plenty of room to ask for it. When she dropped the hint, Yuru barely responded to it.

You’re probably right, but it’s not explicitly part of her character or even implicitly. Why let yourself suffer as if that’s the only viable path?

Really enjoying this one. The main thing I’m missing is why Bertia wants to play the villainess role.

I like the more serious moments of this anime, but I really don’t like the comedic bits, especially from those who I can only still see as (nearly) indiscriminate murderers.
I also really don’t like the way this show is withholding information. Yuru had ample opportunity to ask about why they murdered the village, but only asked about his parents (except the why), even when Asa gave them a perfect hook when she brought up the Higashi village. Which is pretty crucial to everything and possibly also why his parents left. It feels like an artificial way to keep their intentions a mystery, but at the same time they want to us sympathize with them.
