Alright, you have my curiosity. Just from the first chapter, it is almost too easy to make comparisons to A Song of Ice and Fire, but I think that there are likely common sources of inspiration for both series to be found in Jötunn.
One thing I wanted to compliment the series on is Alajoki. I am so used to fantasy settings in manga/anime having their female warriors in something like bikini armor or boob plate, that I just didn’t even register Alajoki as a woman until page 20. So, I really appreciate that she is a warrior first and not just eye candy for the reader.
I have subbed to the new community and will be keeping an eye on this one.

I couldn’t help but end up comparing this to Oshi no Ko as I was reading it. This is a regression rather than reincarnation, but at a high level, it’s similar. The other striking resemblance was how attempted suicide was handled.

Garzey’s Wing is the stuff of legend. I have only seen clips, but it has a bit of a cult following in my area because it is a recurring feature in the Bad Anime, Bad! panel at my local con.

I have been traveling for a lot of this past week, so my reading has been intermittent. However, there are a couple things I wanted to mention:
I mentioned this series in one of these threads back when I first discovered it. The final chapter was just posted to Mangadex, so I thought I would mention it one more time. This series actually somehow ended up kind of wholesome at the end of the day. It has a very forced premise to set up the romance, but the author managed to kind of loop it back around to wholesome. This one is only really worth checking out if you just can’t get enough crossdressing relationships. The art is really well done and Otose is very cute.
I think I have mentioned this one before, but I just caught up on a batch of chapters and this one has remained extremely cute. It is a gag series in which the Demon Lord has fallen in love (one-sidedly) with the hero tasked with slaying her. However, she is so extremely OP that he doesn’t stand a chance. Instead, she tries to woo him while he tries to act the hero. It’s funny and cute and reminds me of something like a romcom version of Torture Princess.

Sword of the Demon Hunter comes out of nowhere to top the chart on AC this week. This season continues to be a weak one in terms of the reddit karma with the total falling below 14k this week and only the top three entries having more than 1k karma. I have been more than satisfied this season, but I am just one person after all.

I have been doing a lot of traveling this past week, so my ability to watch anime has been sporadic. Despite that, I managed to catch up on some shows:
- Ninja and Assassin - Fantastic episode this past week. This was the story I was waiting to see adapted from the manga and the anime delivered 110%. This show has been such fantastic dark comedy.
- Apothecary Diaries - Fantastic couple of episodes that I just caught up on. It’s nice to see people other than Maomao do the mystery solving.
- Evil Lord Isekai - This series is so stupid, and I say that affectionately. I binged a couple episodes to get caught up and I can’t recommend this series to everybody. However, if your brain has been steeped in enough trashy isekai like mine, you might find this one enjoyable.
- Too-Perfect Saint - Heading into the climax of this arc and I am still enjoying this adaptation.
- Rock is a Lady’s Modesty - I have really enjoyed this show a lot. If you like music anime, this has been a fun one.
I have fallen behind on two shows that I really want to keep up with. The first of which is Gundam GQuuuuuux. I have been managing to keep up with making the episode threads for !gundam@ani.social, but am now a couple episodes behind. The other show that I am really going to try to catch up on is Apocalypse Hotel. I have loved this show so far, but have yet to watch the most recent episode. If you haven’t checked it out yet, it has been just the right mix of silly and melancholy for me.

I am currently reading the manga adaptation of this story and have been enjoying it. Monica has basically turned her social anxiety into a superpower while simultaneously inspiring everybody around her to want to protect her. It’s very cute.
