Even without Cid there, they have good mob representation.
This group’s dynamic has been great in the manga. I liked the LN for this portion, but the manga has been absolutely hilarious through this Jack the Ripper arc.

There is a dedicated gunpla community on lemmy.world, and it is relatively active. The most active general gundam community was on an instance that shut down in January. So, we have tried to reform it over at !gundam@ani.social instead. Though, discoverability is tough on the fediverse, and migrating communities never goes terribly smoothly.

This has thrown me for a loop before when messing around in the api. These really need to be separated, but I guess there are quite a few changes that need to happen in the backend to make that happen.

This whole backstory with the pres and his friend, while tragic, seems contrived. Like, if he is a respected student council president at a school, then he is obviously able to not just shock all the people he’s around.

That’s incredible. I don’t really lurk on their forums or anything, is this something they organize every year?

If you are asking if this is the show that is being made with heavy AI-assistance, then yes. I think it is an interesting case study, but there has understandably been some pushback. That is the main reason it isn’t listed on AniList for example.
At the end of the day, if people want to watch and discuss the show though, I think they should be allowed to do that in this community.

I thought that I Love You, Colonel Sanders was a gag when I first saw it, but it is 100% real.
Also, I feel old as I had to look up what OTL stood for in your comment only to figure out that it is meant to be a person on their hands and knees. My corporate brain thought it was “out to lunch”.

Just to confirm, this is almost guaranteed an April Fool’s joke. The key visual they released with this features a question mark after Coming Soon:

This is an approved non-bot discussion post. Since this series is not listed on AniList, the bot doesn’t know about it.

Nope, it was just a user’s post asking for people’s top 10 lists rather than one of the weekly discussion posts that get pinned. Lots of good recommendations in there!

I have just started my attempt at catching up on a lot of series that I have fallen behind on. I don’t have too much to write about this week, but I do just want to acknowledge all of you that have continued to make posts while I wasn’t really able to keep reading regularly. I have also seen some new names making posts recently and some new series popping up which is always exciting.
I still remember the early days after starting this community and I was trying to post at least 1-2 times each day just to keep some amount of activity. On days where series I was reading didn’t get an update, I would start browsing random older oneshots just to find something worth posting. So, it’s nice to see that we have enough users here now that things are more self-sustaining.

I also wanted to make a bit of a meta post this week to call out the newly started Dragonball rewatch over on !dragonball@ani.social. They are planning on watching the original Dragon Ball together and it just started this week! Now is the best time to join in the fun!
Shoutout to @Biskii@ani.social for organizing this, and for also finding/fixing a bug with rikka’s codebase!

Weekly ranking roundup:
- Anime Corner - Full Results - Weekly Winner: Re:Zero
- Reddit Karma - Weekly Winner: Solo Leveling
Credit to /u/Abysswatcherbel for making the chart for reddit karma and /u/Nooble5 for the Anime Trending chart.
Solo Leveling ran away with the reddit karma this past week despite falling to third on the AC chart. I think there is one more week of AC rankings for the winter season, but I don’t remember exactly how they draw the line. Next week’s chart will also have most of the season finales on the reddit chart.

Alright, I am in the process of catching up on things. Here are my thoughts on what I watched this season:
- Guild Receptionist - Strong opening but struggled as the season went. It really felt like one of those series that had a great concept, but the author couldn’t really figure out how to keep it interesting.
- Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf - I had a great time with this show this season. It was just such a nice, comfy vibe.
- 100 Girlfriends - I haven’t watched the finale yet, but this show remains as unhinged as ever. Some great fun this season.
- Bureaucrat to Villainess - Similar to Guild Receptionist, this show started stronger than it finished. The ending in particular was a “read the manga” ending that didn’t really feel satisfying at all.
- Apothecary Diaries - Glad this is continuing. The first half of the season feels like a lot of setting things up, so I hope we start to get more answers in the second half.
- Ameku M.D. - I ended up dropping this and I don’t think I am going to pick it back up. It just wasn’t really scratching either the mystery itch nor the medical drama itch.
- My Happy Marriage - I dropped this partway through the season due to time, but I intend on finishing it. I was really enjoying this season, but it seems like there might have been some production issues indicated by the season finale being delayed.

the gimmick of her wanting to clock out on time
I feel like they could have done so much more with this. It was what, episode 2 before basically all the main characters knew that Alina was The Executioner? The whole keeping her identity a secret while still knocking out bosses to save herself work I think had a lot of potential. However, it was abandoned almost immediately with the one exception of her fellow receptionist crushing on her doll.

I had similar feelings. The moe moments and Rie Takahashi’s VA work were definitely the highlights of the show for me. When the show tried to get serious, it never really connected for me and the back half of the season felt like a big drop compared to the first. I kind of doubt this is getting a season 2, but there are plenty of worse shows that have. At least it gave us a great OP and ED as well as some great Rie Takahashi shouting moments.

This was a great ending to a great show. I have read the manga past this point, and I believe they changed the sequence of things a bit to end things in a satisfying way. If I remember correctly, there is quite a bit of exploration of the dungeon that happens (it’s kind of a long arc if memory serves) and I don’t remember this kiss in the park at all (though it’s been a while since I last read the series). So, I suspect they brought that moment forward in the sequence quite a bit to provide a nice conclusion to things.
Frankly, I think its the right move. I don’t expect this to get a season 2 and ending the show with the beginning of a long dungeon crawling arc would be immensely unsatisfying.

Interesting that you have the Megumin spinoff higher than the main series. I really liked the spinoff, but my impression is that a lot of people missed having the main cast and the chemistry that they bring. I get it though…I love me a good chuuni character (you have excellent taste with your Eminence in Shadow rankings), so I had a ball with the Crimson Demons.
