If you hit the gear in the upper right (Settings), it lets you change the titles from Romaji to English, even if you aren’t logged in.

Here is my breakdown at first glance for next season:
Must Watch
- Dan Da Dan Season 2
- Bunny Girl Senpai: Santa Claus Edition - I love the Mai/Sakuta dynamic, so I am hoping we get a good dose of that this season.
- City - By the same author as Nichijou and it looks great.
- Mikadono Sisters - I think I made a promise to watch this one in the past over in !manga@ani.social, so this is me fulfilling that promise.
Definitely Giving a Chance
- 7th Prince Season 2 - Curious to see how the production holds up to season 1.
- Silent Witch - I am reading the manga and enjoying it a lot. Nero 😻!
- Vending Machine Season 2 - Hoping it stays as oddly compelling as the first season.
Time/Reception Permitting
- Tsuyokute New Saga - I read the manga and…it was ok. Mainly curious to see what the adaptation is like.
- The Summer Hikaru Died - I have only heard fantastic things about the manga. Waiting to see how the reception of the anime is.
- Nyaight of the Living Cat - It sounds so ridiculous that I think I might wait to see if people are vibing with the humor or not.

It boggles my mind that in-line spoilers are still not a thing in lemmy. The issue on github was raised three years ago! I don’t know a lick of rust, but I do know just enough python to be dangerous, so I decided to just make it happen in piefed.
Actually, when I did it and got it working, I was really hesitant about it and reached out to rimu before making the PR. In-line spoilers just show up as normal text to people from federated lemmy instances, so having in-line spoilers on one piece of software and not the others could be problematic. At the end of the day, we decided that it wasn’t worth waiting on the lemmy devs.

piefed <-> lemmy federation works pretty well. You can browse communities, comments, votes, etc. just fine like it were any other lemmy instance. The only caveats to this are a couple features that are piefed-only right now. Off the top of my head the ones I can think of are post-flairs, spoiler tagging of posts, in-line spoilers, username flairs, and poll posts. So, a poll on a piefed instance (like this one) would be limited to other piefed users being able to vote because lemmy doesn’t have polls.

Happy birthday! Here’s to the next year together!
The piefed news is pretty exciting for me. For those of you that don’t dive into the code, I have actually been contributing to piefed for a little while now (my first issue was 7 months ago now); even recently being made a contributor on the codeberg repository. So, if anybody wants to sneak something in like an Erased-themed 404 page or a Haruhi-themed admin page, let me know 😜 /s. I was the one that coded all the spoiler features in piefed, so if you are trying it out and find an issue, please feel free to reach out. I have quite a list of other improvements that I want to work on as well, so great things are on the horizon for piefed I believe.
- Comment on Volume 2 cover (The Monster Girl I Saved.) 2 days ago:
This series has turned out way better than I thought it was going to be when I started it. It seems like a dumb harem series but with monster girls, but as the story had gone on, there is a lot more happening (in addition to the monster girl harem).

I have really liked this series so far. The premise feels contrived and dramatic, but it’s somehow managed to be very wholesome.

I don’t see a problem with it. We have discussions about Korean manhwa and Chinese donghua (To Be Hero X is airing this season for example) pretty regularly. This falls under the same umbrella.

I knew where the joke was leading to, but seeing her realization that she poured feelings of love into the ramen was great.

This chapter just kept escalating the weird. I loved it. These two officers fit right in with this series.

Yes! I really loved these two! More of them please.

Hebizono is, hands-down, my favorite character in this series. So, a whole chapter focused on her is a treat.

I can’t remember the last time I saw menstruation referenced in a manga. This series continues to be a good time.

I just caught up and this show has been an absolute gem.

Her whole journey I was preparing myself for the worst. Then, just when I am finally feeling ok, she hits me with that line. For an episode that had remarkably few spoken lines of dialog, that was an effective one.

So, as I mentioned in my comment in the anime discussion thread this week, I have been doing lots of traveling the past few weeks with very limited internet access. I am tentatively back home this week, so I have quite a bit of catching up to do. I’ll do my best to pick up my reading again, but in the meantime I just want to give a huge shoutout to all of you that have continued discussions in my absence!

So, the past couple of weeks have been a bit crazy for me. You may have noticed my posting activity has been way down compared to normal. I have had a series of trips over the past couple of weeks that has kept me on the road most days. Some for work, some for personal reasons, and only some of them were planned. So, I haven’t really had the energy to do too much in the way of watching subbed media, and for most of my time traveling, my internet connection was extremely spotty at best.
So, I haven’t watched too much anime in the past 2 weeks or so. One thing I was able to watch (after I listened to a podcast about it on my travels), was Project A-Ko. It was a nice and compact standard definition, so I could still watch it on a crappy mobile connection out in the sticks.
Overall, I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t one of my favorites. The thing that I liked the most about it is just how much all of the main characters completely ignored the plot. It made for a good amount of humor that there are metaphorical giant flashing signs all around them that this thing is important, and just none of them care or even acknowledge it. They are all too wound up in their own little thing and end up influencing the world around them only coincidentally.

That’s illegal!
This one has been slow but steady. I feel like it would be all too easy to get sidetracked with all the side characters and progress grinds to a halt. This is what eventually killed my interest in Komi-san for example. But this series has tread that line pretty carefully.

A tale as old as time…the cat will enjoy the box that the toy came in more than the toy itself. My cats took weeks to actually use their beds.
