Context: The Representation of the People Act 1918 is famous for giving women the vote, but it also gave the vote to all men over 21 (and soldiers over 19). Before this, only about 58% of men could vote, so millions of soldiers who fought in WWI had no say in the government that sent them to war. The meme pokes fun at people who only focus on the women’s suffrage part.

I only recently noticed how much alike the two women look.
Traditionally, the message would be that the man wants what he doesn’t have, in a physical sense. I think it stings more when the girlfriend realizes it’s not her body he has a problem with.
