Without looking it up, are you familiar with the literary form "drabble?" I was today years old when I learned this term.
@kimlockhartga I know I've seen the word but I don't have any memory of what it might mean. Now I can look it up 😁

@kimlockhartga @bookstodon Oh no. You have just created a monster. *cracks knuckles*
@kimlockhartga @bookstodon yes, I am
@kimlockhartga @bookstodon yes, only because of a writing group I was in like 20ish years ago called Drabbles, haha.
@anikeaten @bookstodon how cool.I would love to audit a writing class, just to be there.
@kimlockhartga @bookstodon Hmm…nope, I don’t think I’ve heard it before.
@kimlockhartga @bookstodon I've known that literally form for probably close to 20 years. Escape Pod (sci-fi short fiction podcast) and PodCastle (fantasy short fiction podcast) would sometimes air drabbles, and there was even Drabble Cast.
@jendefer @bookstodon this is so cool.
@kimlockhartga @bookstodon I didn't know this and now I am obsessed. Mission accepted. Kinda like the haiku of storytelling.
@thelunaticmartin @bookstodon exactly.
@kimlockhartga @bookstodon oh yeah, seen it in fanfiction circles a lot!
@meljoann @kimlockhartga @bookstodon agree with you. Have heard of it when I started reading and writing fanfics as a teenager.
@kimlockhartga @bookstodon New one on me!
@wcbdata @bookstodon I was so surprised I never heard of it.
"Drabble" - (v) Describes the act of drooling on a Scrabble board.

Ironically, my made-up definition of "Drabble" is itself a drabble.
I think I only know it because Lois McMaster Bujold used it at the end of one of her novels for a reaction to [important_event] montage.
@kimlockhartga @bookstodon as in poor writing, right?
@VoxOfGod @bookstodon no. That's a reasonable discernment. But, it's an actual literary form, with specific rules.
@kimlockhartga @bookstodon interesting!
I think I've heard it used that way tho.
@kimlockhartga @bookstodon As in the Drabblecast podcast?
Edit: LOL, of course a bunch of folks knew the word from the pidcast
