I wish we could afford one, but so many other maintenance issues come up, and our property tax and home insurance seem to go up every year, so who knows if we’ll ever be able to. We’re also well below even the new median. Just glad we can afford our reasonable mortgage and modest home in our high CoL area.

I don’t know about regulations in the US, but in Germany it is really easy by now to just start with a small installation. An inverter and two panels is all you need. Then work your way up over time. You could even look for used panels.
