My first scope was a 10” Dobsonian with no special features. I feel like it was a great way to really get a feel for the hobby and teach yourself the fundamentals. I felt very connected to what I was doing since it was all stamps and manual control.

As someone who was all over AIM in the early 2000s and had some similar experiences, yeah that first one made me tear up too at the end.

To be honest though that really please my autistic brain. I used to make cities in Sim City 2000 the same way: a grid of blocks that I just kept going even when it ran up against obstacles and formed incomplete squares.
