Like having characters in the game tattooed with references? Seems there’s a lot of easier ways like naming characters, in dialogue, or a texture for something larger.
I'm surprised more video games don't use tattoos as a homage to their inspirations

That would definitely be easier but I don’t think by much these days. Lots of modern games allow you to customize your character with tattoos.
They could do something like the logo below if they were fans of Invasion of the Body Snatchers for example.
It would be a little more present then some graffiti on a wall.

In Yakuza series, a character’s tatoo is often all over on thier back and represent the person’s personality or role in the story. The tatoo often has a Japanese or Chinese folk lore reference to it

So in this case were they inspired by the Mexican street gang the F13’ers, or by high school stoners? What’s the 13 for?
