- Comment on Valve won't sacrifice battery life to deliver a more powerful Steam Deck 2 4 weeks ago:
I’m glad they aren’t planning on releasing incrementally upgraded devices.
Retroid makes a lot of handheld emulators that are decent quality but it feels like they release a new model every few months that’s just slightly better than the last. It’s an easy way to feel cheated and hesitant about what you’re buying.
- Comment on TikTok owner ByteDance sacks intern for sabotaging AI project 4 weeks ago:
Yeah. I feel like the headline also misrepresented the extent of what happened.
But the firm rejected claims about the extent of the damage caused by the unnamed individual, saying they “contain some exaggerations and inaccuracies”
Is probably the key takeaway and a good summary of what the article is about
- Comment on From a cyber security aspect how hazardous are random mini PCs from Ali Express/Amazon if you are starting with a fresh OS install? 1 month ago:
I’m consider getting one for surfing the web on a secondary monitor. Nothing important is occurring but I asked this question for two reasons.

- It can be hard to create a threat profile if you don’t know a threat exists.
Plenty of people put some level of work into making their PC’s OS more secure using YouTube tutorials and tips but they may not think to update their BIOS for example

Do most motherboards receive long term support updates? I feel like I’ve only ever gotten a few updates for the ones I’ve used but maybe that was because I was buying older boards.

I once got flak for linking the NSFW source behind an image in a piracy community and someone got mad about it like your workplace is going to be thrilled about you looking for pirated content in a Fake Taxi meme

- Comment on GTA Online update pops a quality-of-life feature behind the GTA+ paywall, making it unavailable on PC 4 months ago:
allows you to collect cash accumulated in safes, request vehicles and replenish ammo using your in-game phone - but only if you pay up $8 or $7 a month for a GTA+ subscription, which is currently not available on PC.
- Comment on Why do many search engines seem to ignore operators (e.g. exact phrases, term exclusions, OR, etc.)? Is there a good reason for having a dumb 1997-level search logic that I'm not seeing? 4 months ago:
Have you not had much luck using operators?
I’ve found them relatively reliable

Yeah it seems like since COVID19 and the release of RG350 there’s been a real increase in the amount of progress

The Vita also has a lot of source ports.
For the right price it can be a pretty good deal considering it can play PSX and below as well as PSP games and a lot of handheld emulators still struggle with Vita emulation.

The RG35XXSP has a GBA SP clamshell style and is relatively new with a lot of positive reviews
- Comment on Handheld Linux Retrogaming recommendation? 4 months ago:
It depends what you want to emulate. Most consoles can do PSX and below without any trouble. A lot of devices share the same chipset so that’s a big thing to look out for.
If you want to get into things like PS2 and GameCube you are going to have to pay more and likely consider Android.
A console with HDMI out and Bluetooth might be what you are looking for so you can potentially have that desktop experience you are used to.

I think Batocera-based custom firmwares can show retro achievement availability from the games list
- Comment on Miyoo Mini+ 4 months ago:
Just a heads up the “10,000 in 1” game claims that every one of these devices advertises isn’t something you should give a thought to. It’s going to be a lot of games you’ve never heard of for older systems like the NES. It also comes on SD cards most people would recommend replacing.
It’s better to just download the entire library, individual games, or an already curated collection.
- Comment on Does different parts of the world use different standards for water pressure similar to voltages? 4 months ago:
Is that substantial though or is it like calling 120V something like 110V/115V?
- Comment on Beloved and janky spy RPG Alpha Protocol returns to Steam after four year absence 4 months ago:
Glad it’s back. It was considered abandonware for a while there.
I played it on my PS3 not too long ago and it’s definitely a middle of the road game. It feels ambitious and like it fell flat at the same time. The game gives you a decent amount of choice but it didn’t feel fun enough to replay. For a spy game I didn’t think it had the best stealth mechanics.
