That’s good so when someone releases a 4 hour video about me I can just pause my comments.

This is going to be great for people distributing misinformation.
Good work google, making sure people have an even HARDER time distinguishing reality on your platform.

This sounds like a positive change though

No it isn’t. Now people will not be able to comment on videos if the creator decides to make a controversial video. Without dislikes and now the ability to disable comments, youtubers can make up any kind of garbage and misleading content and you will not be able to verify it by looking at the dislikes or comments.

Dude this is only like 10 years too late. Youtubers deserve comorehensive moderation and curstion tools. Youtube comments should be at the forefront of video discussion.

I don’t trust videos that have comments disabled, they’re usually shills or BS.

Depends on the content
If it’s a product or service, then yea I’ll find other sources. If it’s an academic source or news story, then I prefer comments to be disabled. Shows me that the channel cares enough about it

if academic or news source is scared of being called out, i don’t trust them. yes, i do understand that with worthy comments there is a lot of garbage, but that is cost of doing business.
