Hello, I’m going to start my first play through of Oblivion tonight. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for on what mods to use or what to check out in the game?
The dark brotherhood has a great quest line in Oblivion.

Thank you, I’ll definitely check it out. I’m planning to play a stealth mage, so it fits with the play style as well. Is there anything special I have to do to activate the quest line?
Just kill any innocent person then go to sleep
I think you just need to kill an NPC. I can’t quite remember.
Another tip is the leveling system is busted as hell. For instance, health increases by a rate in relation to your endurance level. If you don’t level up endurance early, your character can be fragile later on.
You don’t have to max out endurance, just keep it maintained.
There’s a quest to kill a unicorn, but you can find it before the quest becomes available and claim it as your horse. Just don’t draw your weapon in front of it (it will aggro on you). Also don’t forget to loot the horn if it dies, it’s the item you need to finish the quest.
Don’t install any mods that improve the looks, movements or dialog of NPC’s.
It’s an essential part of the Oblivion experience!

Play it vanilla bare bones first time! Do all the side quests to your hearts content and enjoy the game!

While I’m an advocate for playing games canilla the first go around, Oblivion is a Bethesda game and therefore full of bugs. I’d recommend setting up a minimal mod list just to get essential fixes
