I’m going to play the devil’s advocate here and point out that Green Card holders being chained to an employer is not Apple’s fault.
That’s a good point, our stupid federal policies are incentivizing this behavior from Apple. But Apple is also the richest company in the world and they employ enough lawyers to know that they’re not supposed to do this kind of shit, so I don’t really have sympathy for them in this case.

These less effective recruitment practices deterred protected workers from applying to positions that Apple preferred to fill instead with PERM beneficiaries."
Apple has already implemented some of the changes and agreed to “train its employees on the INA’s anti-discrimination requirements and be subject to departmental monitoring for the three-year period of the agreement,” the DOJ said.

Every company discriminates. That’s what companies do. They only want the best and the brightest. Well, when the best and brightest only come from the most expensive schools and the most rich neighborhoods (meaning white men) how do you think that turns out? The problem is that we don’t lift up disadvantaged populations

And I am sure any costs Apple gets from this (legal costs and fines) will count for a small % of the profits they made from this practice.
