Some of that is controversial as far as I know. And the pseudopupils are an optical Artifact since every single eye has its own opening.

Chinchillas have vertical slit pupils despite being small herbivorous rodents. There are definitely quite a few exceptions.

I don’t think the pseudopupils are a feature of the eye distinct from any other part, it’s just what the individual facets look like viewed at a shallow angle.

W-shaped pupils likely also help cuttlefish see color and polarization of light, despite not having any cone cells in their retinas!
