  Hand it to them personally at the end of their set. It gives you the opportunity to thank them in person and explain the value of your “tip”.

  If they refuse it’s not because of the currency. It’s because donations that large typically come with strings, and they may feel weird about it.

  Anything can be stolen, but they’re usually fairly careful about that.

  I can’t see why anyone would say no to a donation. I assume anything can be stolen, but like the other person said, if you do it towards the end of their set I assume they would put it out of site or end their set to go secure it if they were worried.
