I wasn’t going to buy any more Sony games after Stellar Blade shipped with malware, but I might make an exception for this. Kojima is mad and clearly pours a lot of love and attention into his PC ports.

I love this game. Spent enough time with it to get the Platinum. I still listen to the soundtrack, and a couple of tracks get me teared up because they are really beautiful and remind me of events in the game and how they made me feel.

Damn, that looks good. I’ve never played it, but now I’m tempted

Honestly didn’t like it as much as the first one.
Better combat but worse story and an over-reliance on vehicles.
Sure looks nice though.

Maybe it’s the vehicle part. I’ve bounced if like 3 times now. I want to play it. But damn I have no idea why I can’t stick to it. Does feel like I’m just driving from a to b at the moment.

That’s why I adored the first game but couldn’t bring myself to finish the second.

Yeah, there’s quite a lot of that.
It’s basically an unholy hybrid of Metal Gear Solid, Euro Truck Simulator and QWOP.
It’s standard Kojima fare. Bonkers story, badly written women, and sad music. It’s really Reedus, Mads and Troy holding the games together.

I’ve seen the comments about the vehicles thing often, but, like… Once you had access to zip lines and the floating following carriers in the first game, you were practically fast traveling with a huge load of cargo anyway.
EncryptKeeper@lemmy.world 3 days ago
You couldn’t zip line with the carrier initially, that came with the directors cut.
The zip line networks were definitely too strong in the first game, but that’s still leagues better than DS2 because with zip lines you at least have to complete a delivery to get the network online, then go out and set up your zip lines. It took some setup work.
In DS2 you just throw your cargo in a truck and go.
