Trump loves to espouse this “Wildman” philosophy of negotiation where you remain as unpredictable as possible in the belief that this will give you some kind of advantage, but in reality what it gets you is this; a total lack of trust. When you combine that with a stated belief that mutually beneficial arrangements cannot exist - that every deal has to have a winner and it has to be you - it becomes functionally impossible for anyone to take you at your word when you say that you’re entering into negotiations in good faith.
Obviously, Trump’s “philosophy” aligns with his utter lack of attention span and inability to hold complex thoughts in his head in such a way that it could be read as nothing more than a convenient retroactive explanation for what is in reality just the chaos of a mind ill-suited to complex thought, incapable of restraint and driven entirely by id. If you were so inclined.

Until Trump, Israel, and Europe are ready to have an honest conversation about the last two and a half years, it’s all in bad faith; Trump absolutely did not expect this outcome and the last thing Iran should do is give him and Israel a chance to plot a new course of action for a next time. If Iran gives them breathing room, they’ll prepare for a second (third) go but with contingencies for everything Iran did this time around.
What does victory look like for Iran? I personally have no idea, but absolute best case scenario which absolutely won’t happen: unconditional surrender of Israel and being put under control of Iran (obviously this won’t happen); other than that, Israeli and American politicians and military being put on trial for war crimes, this also won’t happen, it’s impossible; beyond that, an end to sanctions? This feels more plausible, but so long as Europe insists on being American vassals and having solidarity with Trump, this also isn’t going to happen but it’s not impossible. I genuinely have no idea what victory looks like for Iran, but everyone involved in this against Iran is acting in bad faith. There needs to be a formal recognition of the events of the last two and a half years before any dialogue with Iran can be done honestly.

Which is the exact reason using diplomatic meetings as traps for assassinations are a war crime. It decreases willingness to negotiate the end of hostilities.
