Tell me you don’t understand technology without saying you don’t understand technology. Biometrics don’t leave Apple devices. Proof? Go get an old touch iPhone and set up a fingerprint and then try to use that to log in to a MacBook with Touch ID.
Face scanning and age verification is the big new privacy invading feature of this decade. Meanwhile almost every single iPhone user has given away all of that for years, just to unlock their phone.

You can educate him without being insulting.

Or maybe better if op could spend 5 minutes to do their research before posting inaccurate claims.

You are right, sorry about that. Just tired of people spreading bullshit and then by the time the truth gets said the lies have gone halfway around the world. People need to verify stuff before posting their every thought and whim.

that’s not a proof at all. it not being usable on your other devices does not mean it is not uploaded. it just means the data is not synced to other devices for this specific purpose. we simply don’t and cannot know whether it is uploaded anywhere.

You are right, it’s not proof! I was waiting for someone like you to say so, so I could point out that this has been tested numerous times by researchers and it does stay on device and is secure, that’s literally the entire point of a TPM.

As someone who does not like Apple, you’re confidently incorrect.

FaceID information is stored locally. You have to remember that FaceID isn’t just a picture - it’s a 3D depth scan using LIDAR. If every phone transmitted that information to Apple whenever phones were unlocked it would consume an absurd amount of data and thus money.

FaceID information is stored locally.
On a device with internet connection.

That has been audited by third parties around the world. I detest Apple’s business practices, and even I know this ain’t it chief.

The difference is one stays local on your phone in a tpm only accessible from that device while the other is stored on some third party platform by a vendor you have never heard of with no information around security controls.
