I dont get the hate. Tilly is one of the most memorable characters from discovery.

I don’t get the memberberry addiction and blindness to incredulity of suspension of disbelief.

How many people are there in the galaxy, in the federation, in starfleet… And yet, we’ve managed to bring almost [(/approaching)] everybody back, across a millennia, like it’s a small village of only these few people…

      I… wh… really!? wat.

And then, I imagine, such critiques and queries, will get reductively skewed and rebranded as “hate”, and hatefully projected upon me. XD I guess the hate gets easier to understand when one checks the three fingers pointing back any time it’s encountered.

As someone who doesn’t usually connect with modern Trek, I’ve really been enjoying Academy and Life Of The Stars was one of my favorite Trek episodes of all time. Not many Trek episodes have made me cry like a little girl.

Disco was blessed with a bunch of very talented actors, but constantly plagued with terrible writing. It was lovely to see Wiseman on Academy.

Why the hate? I thought she was good in whatever series I saw her in (can’t recall the name, but she was a main character).

Tilly is in this show? Well, I’m glad I never started watching it.

Is it toxic to not like a poorly written character? I have absolutely nothing against the actress and wouldn’t ever wish harm on an actor/actress just because of a character they portrayed. Are we not allowed to have differing opinions on art?

Sure, if it makes you feel better to call me that. I just don’t care for the direction Trek went with Discovery. I do like SNW though.

She’s a guest star in a single episode.

From what I’ve seen this show seems more like Discovery than classic Trek. Having Tilly show up confirms that for me. That’s a no thanks from me.

      Well done, you.

      Keep at it.

      Healthier that way.

It would hurt beyond your worst conception of how bad it could be.

@ValueSubtracted Tilly seemed very much autistic coded... which I like to be honest. I like that neurodiversity is being seen - especially in Trek. Tilly being in a leadership role is awesome. It challenges the stigma of us being problematic in a leadership position. :3

Jesus this was hard to read.

Yeah, that’s a great question. It’s tricky, because a lot of times in acting, you want to kind of give what you receive. And so I felt like what I needed to hold, and what I was reminded of by the director and Alex and everybody involved, is that she’s affected by by this and what this girl is going through and how this girl is responding to her, but also, she’s in a position now where she’s a teacher and responsible for this cadet, and needs to hold things together to guide her through this really difficult experience, which was a really fun thing to play, and really the dynamic in the playing of it was how to empathize with her and receive what Tarima was experiencing and going through and try to steer the ship where I thought it needed to go in order for her to move through this experience and heal and be able to come out better on the other end.

Something something people experiencing emotions and people experiencing emotions about people experiencing emotions. Damn.

    And Dealing With Toxic Fans

I can’t help but read that as blaming the victim.

“How dare they wail negativity from what we’ve done to them and their beloved!?!!” as they twist the knife further into the ungrateful.

How about dealing with toxic narcissism?
