I've been perma banned from both Reddit and Bluesky. I made it about 6 months on the latter, until I was banned for "abusive/hateful content", either referring to my comments about, y'know, or the fact that I used the term "fucking Mormons" a couple times. Bluesky is for middle aged shitlibs named Cheryl from Minnesota, that are more than willing to throw trans people under the bus. Also, trans people are the funniest and only tolerable group on the hellsite. That's all.
After every 10 years of every social media platform becoming just another political propaganda machine Im totally bored of it.

Mostly agree with you on bluesky but my feed has plenty pro-trans folks so I don’t see that. Still very shitlibby, though, and it’s mostly used how I used to use Twitter: to follow celebrities (well, comedians) for lols.
It’s a stupid medium for discussions, anyway.

I wanna ask - for you, has it always seemed like that over the course of 10 years?
I was on social media for what would’ve been 20 years, and I feel like it was 10 years ago that enshittification passed a tipping point.

I agree. It was fun for a very long time and then somewhere around 2015 it became a political shitshow and people started getting mean.

Basically ever since my parents got on Facebook. It wasn’t immediately slammed with propaganda but the consciousness changed.
I think there is legitimately just a lag between when the losers find out about something cool.

People were like, we are not watching the news because its so depressing.
And then on social media, news are discussed anyway but with meme pictures attached.

Tbf, I’d rather have meme than not have meme.

When they added all those default filters to bluesky for things like violence and hate speech and didn’t add one for politics, I deleted my account. I’m so so so very tired of it. I’m also 100% sick of slacktivists thinking posting their politics on social media does anything other than make other people post their politics on social media.

I understand politics are important. Its just not what I was signing up for. I give it a go because silence is not the answer but again, Im not a political genius I just dont like fascism. Is it so wrong to not want every form of human expression I consume not be about the absolute worst people on the planet?

There’s plenty of blocklists for politics unless those got deleted recently.
FridaySteve@lemmy.world 1 month ago
I understand that user moderation is an accepted practice nowadays, but people end up on those blocklists for invalid reasons and I’d prefer a default filter like there is for hate speech.

how do i enable those blocklists ?
