Change the vehicle tax to be based on height, width and length dimensions.

I grew up around big vehicles in the countryside. They were small compared to the nonsense I regularly see on our roads today.

I'm baffled as to the appeal of these monstrosities. They're a pain in the hole to park, to drive, to maintain, and to fuel.

This goes double for those idiotic pickups that also have space for 5+ people in the cab. Unless you're transporting a work detail between building sites there is no way you need something like that.

It's bad enough that I have to have a car for where I live. Having one that's also a huge money pit and wildly impractical just takes the piss.

At least get something fun if you want to burn some money! Let's see some hotrods!

I fucking hate those dumb vehicles so much.

They serve no purpose for most people beyond being a stupid status symbol. I was so annoyed with my mum when she got one and had a rant when other family members started considering getting one, they have since decided a hatchback has suited them since the 80s so why change what has worked so far, but fuck.

It really goes to exemplify the dumb Americanisation of our population that just a little bit of marketing can push 30% of people to purchase a vehicle that 9 times out of 10 doesn’t suit their requirements. Not to mention how many of these dumb fucks are incapable of driving the things, even when they’re filled with sensors and cameras they can still take an age to reverse in and out, and in and out, and in and out, of a parking space before they’re in.

The worst part is how half of these SUVs are just chunky hatchbacks, so you don’t even get the advantage of having 4 wheel drive or rugged build quality. So unlike a (proper) Land Rover or Toyota Hilux which will just keep going forever [insert Land Rovers break down all the time joke here - they’re easily repairable!] they’ll end up in the scrap heap at the same rate as smaller cars but with twice the amount of material going to waste.

    Stupid fucking vehicles.

Hey, man, it is hard to manoeuvre accurately whilst checking insta or tiktok. It does make it a lot easier to put cyclists in danger though!

I think people just want a newer hybrid car, but the batteries for these bastards are so big that the only models that can support them are the chonker SUVs - so that’s what the car makers put out, further fuelled by the US’s lower restrictions on light trucks.

I live in the hope that once the UK goes fully electric, smaller models will start being offered by car makers.

I mean Priuses are still around and a lot smaller than SUVs
