I wonder what the success rate is if you verify using AI generated faces.
This is lunacy.
This is the UK
This is Sparta!
I wonder when they will go after the first lemmy instance and if so will they go after a bunch of them and how many instances will just say lol get fucked ofcom.
So long as the instance isn’t hosted in the UK and doesn’t use any payment services, I don’t think they can do anything about it. Other than maybe block the instance via ISPs, like they do with piracy stuff.
Yeah, doesn’t that take a while to roll out across ISPs though? So we can jump from instance to instance if necessary.
“The laws in your location require you to verify you’re an adult to access certain features.”
I’ve got kids who are always looking over my shoulder. This sounds like it will make my feeds safer. Cleaner feeds is threatening me with a good time.
Is BlueSky really the place for that kind of thing anyway? I certainty don’t like it popping up unannounced, on any platform.
Learn to install parental filtering on your device if you’re worried about it.
Clearly people want BlueSky for very different users cases than me. TBH, it’s not been an issue for a while now, maybe because I’ve blocked so much of it when I started I guess.
I always had “Show NSFW content” unchecked, so it should never have that shit come up.
To be clearly, I don’t support them doing this. Unchecking “Show NSFW content” should have always worked. If that doesn’t work reliable, why will this identity verification privacy invasion.

This is really trivial to get around: gist.github.com/…/6e27b24a83838202908808ad528b331…

Can confirm the ubo custom filter method works perfectly.

Because it’s client side it’s gucci, but has anyone tried these UBO rules with other apps such as weddit or other sites employing KWS?
And, is this gonna be another Consent to Cookies bollocks?

Client side moderation is a Bluesky thing, I imagine this wouldn’t work on Reddit et al. but that depends on how it’s implemented and is going to be specific to whatever website your accessing. Or you can just use a VPN, like the BBC put it:

Thanks for that! That link eases me.

This simply isn’t true. It doesn’t go through Bluesky in any way, but you do connect to a 3rd party service. Thus is is not “entirely client-side”.
