I liked playing Ace Combat 7 on the Steam Deck when I’m on an actual airplane during takeoff. I pull up when the airplane takes off so that the G-forces are simulated in game.
It's a ritual, to start the releases of games

As a kid/teen I played the hell out of 4 and 5. I revisited the series for 7 and it felt like they left a lot of storytelling out. Gameplay(combat and controls) was still great though.

Ace Combat is a sick series. Just played it once, but I remember the gameplay being a good mix of realism and arcade

I only ever had one Ace Combat game, and it must have been before the series got really gnarly because the one I remember was fairly realistic, other than being about 2 fictional countries and having anime-like dialogue.
Saw a clip of a more recent one (possibly 8, idk) where they were fighting some kind of monster in their jet.

Yellow 13 or Erusea ring any bells? Sounds like you played 4. Controls have stayed similar since then, the arcadey style is still strong in 7. 8 isn’t out yet, hence the rituals.

I am pretty sure I played 4 or 5. It was way back on PS2.
