if you dont love her enough for marriage, dont get married. you didn't "take" anything as long as you didn't manipulate or coerce her. their religion is not your problem. that said, if the baby is yours you do have a responsibility to help raise and support the child.

thats not a whole instance though. thats just a place for an account to be. on activity pub platforms anyone can just make an entire indepent and independently functional instance of the platform.

let them sue, parody is fair use. get that bag king
- Comment on Can we please stop arguing about whether Bluesky is decentralized? 1 week ago:
but can I use a random old computer I have in my house to run an instance as long as there are a managable number of users? renting a server isnt self hosting. making one yourself is self hosting.
- Comment on Can we please stop arguing about whether Bluesky is decentralized? 1 week ago:
bluesky is technically decentralized, but the way it does it makes self-hosting all but impossible due to storage requirements. because of that, it really isnt. its like how a lot of ai models are 'open-source' even though the training data isnt available and the ai is still effectively a black box. it isnt decentralized unless anyone can make an instance, just like how it isnt open-source unless you have access to everything that makes it work (yes, by this definition chromium and android aren't truly open-source, and I stand by that).

i wouldnt say so. what makes it extreme is that it sits at the far end of the political spectrum. a good analogy would be hot and cold (I'll use Fahrenheit bc I'm American). anywhere from 60-80 degrees is generally tolerable even if it may not be comfortable. 90 degrees is a temperature nearly nobody likes being at but it isnt extreme, its just uncomfortable. 100 degrees still isnt quite extreme, but it is dangerous if you aren't careful. anything above that is an extremely high temperature. you could mirror that onto the other side of the tolerable range I mentioned and it would be the same. extreme does not mean unpopular, it means so far outside of a tolerable range as to be excessively bad (whatever constitutes 'bad' in-context, often dangerous). unpopular is a separate, arbitrary thing that only describes approval and not how extreme something is.

i hope they do something related to vr so I can finally have a sane and simple solution for Linux pcvr

- Comment on paz 2 weeks ago:
whether something is extreme or not has nothing to do with how popular it is. even if everyone in the world held those views they would still be extremist beliefs. the people who hold those views are not moderate.
- Comment on paz 2 weeks ago:
well since it is an extreme, anyone holding that viewpoint is an extremist. it has nothing to do with how common it is.
- Comment on paz 3 weeks ago:
someone who doesnt think you should have human rights isnt moderate though. there is such a thing as people who disagree with you but are not extremists.
- Comment on paz 3 weeks ago:
why is this so downvoted? its saying extremism is bad no matter which end of the political spectrum you are on, which is true.

Texas isn't dry except for the desert parts of west Texas. south Texas is a mix of swamp and normal coast, central is just hills, east is Arkansas lite (I live here) and north is the trial version of the mountains it has the southern bits of.
- Comment on AI IS BURNING THE PLANNET!! 5 weeks ago:
it will grow exponentially until it pops and then will progress normally in a way that is actually useful. that is what the term "bubble" means in this context.

yeah. i dont mind referencing politics but just straight up posting your political views should only happen (or be allowed) in relevant communities.
- Comment on I'm sure this would work out fine 1 month ago:
this community isn't as bad about it, but if you want to see what I was talking about check out microblog memes. they are awful about it.
- Comment on I'm sure this would work out fine 1 month ago:
yeah, the actual memes that were there were good but I only ever saw politics.
- Comment on I'm sure this would work out fine 1 month ago:
in the context of communities like these that change already happened naturally, thats how language works. its the same as how guy means man in some contexts, even though originally it meant idiot and was in reference to someone named guy who tried to bomb Parliament. language changes, context matters, and there are communities for politics that you can go to to talk politics.
- Comment on Soup of Theseus 1 month ago:
this was a thing in inns and such pretty much from Rome through the middle ages, possibly longer but archeology only knows so much, and they tended to consider it the same soup.
- Comment on I'm sure this would work out fine 1 month ago:
ive left a few comments here and there complaining about people posting stuff on meme comms that isn't even a meme, just straight politics. this is what those people should be doing instead because its actually a meme. thank you.
- Comment on Why isn't Mbin more popular? 1 month ago:
it has a combined "timeline" view in the mobile app now, and though it isn't much better the website (for my instance, anyway) only requires one click.
