Information Commissioner’s Office takes action as people report feeling powerless over data gathering at home
In a world where an air fryer needs access to your contacts, build a pit in your backyard.
Don’t even give smart devices your wifi password. Not your tv, your fridge or your fucking air fryer.
If it’s required, return it.
Don’t install their apps either unless it’s on an old phone that you’ve wiped all of your personal data from.
I mean, who says you need to connect air fryer to a phone. And if it demands connection to even function at its very basic level of being a fucking air fryer, return the shit back to store.
You aren’t powerless… just stop buying crap designed to spy on you.
great job blaming the victims of unchecked capitalism instead of the corporations violating our privacy
Give your balls a tug. Buying an air fryer that requires an internet connection makes you an idiot, not a victim of capitalism.
Also sometimes it’s unavoidable without workarounds. It shouldn’t be crazy to expect to buy a product that works and works well without it spying on you. Why should companies get the right to continue to collect data and generate more profit off of an item the consumer owns. Why should consumers have to give up their right to privacy so that a company can make obscene profits off of their information?

Why you need a smart air fryer in the first? It’s a fucking air fryer. You can say the same thing about TVs, fridges, and so on. I want to go back to the pre-smart stuff years.
