Trying to find a mecha/robot anime probably It’s an old anime. It has one scene where a boy was sitting inside robot then a girl jump on his lap and he closed the robot head and they were going to fight a large mothership like thing. Also, that girl was not human I guess(not sure).

Bravern had a scene very much like this, though it only aired earlier this year. Instead of a boy though, it was very much an adult man that had a girl (basically an adopted daughter) pop into his mech pilot seat with him. The show was basically a parody of a lot of other mech tropes though.

Bravern was one of the best shows that seemingly nobody in the West watched. It was completely overshadowed in the Winter 2024 season by some other big shows that were airing at the same time (Frieren, Dungeon Meshi). I absolutely loved it and recommend it wholeheartedly.
Could be Neon Genesis Evangelion, there’s a scene where Shinji and Asuka are in the pod together, though they are both human.

What year, approximately, did you see this? Was it a tape, DVD, or on broadcast TV?
What color(s) was the mecha? What was the color of the boy’s hair? Girl’s hair? What style was the girl’s hair?
Maybe that will help narrow down the choices…

It look like it though but does it have any big mothership like thing. It was very big compared to Simon Mech. I am not talking about Anti-Spiral.
