They tried to block Telegram before and Telegram staged a counter offensive with proxies that kept them online in Russia and made the Kremlin look like fools.
AFAIK Telegram has much higher market share in Russia. Keep in mind it’s easier for an authoritarian to “flex” and block smaller fish.

Well that contextualizes a lot.
Several Ukrainian tg channels dedicated to the war suddenly had an issue two days ago where every post was coming up as “you must be older than 18 to view this post” for android users. I wonder if they fucked something up trying to wiggle around this.
