Yeah, the saltpeter (potassium nitrate) is really the key ingredient here. It’s the rapid oxidizer compound that gives your anti-Gorn cannon its boom boom. Without that, mixing all the other stuff together is just going to be smelly and disappointing.

I’ll save you a click, they’re sulfur crystals. This is interesting because although they can naturally form in volcanic regions this area is non-volcanic. The other way they naturally form is via microbial actions which may offer a clue about Mars past.

Fun Fact: Yellow kyber crystals got their unique color from the hardening of Wookie urine from the mountains of Kashyyyk. It can also be used for Porg banquets due to its salty taste and rough texture.
