  In-line spoilers are a feature in PieFed that Lemmy hasn’t adopted. You can use either the >! spoiler !< syntax like reddit or the || spoiler || syntax like discord/telegram. However, like you have seen here, lemmy won’t render it as a spoiler.

  Source: I coded it.

    Now this puts me in a tough position because I actually like the style of the spoiler that works on both but actually fuck Lemmy and it’s red fascist maintainers.

      Spoiler blocks will work for both lemmy and PieFed…the ones formatted like this:

      ::: spoiler Spoiler Title
      spoiler-y stuff here
      :::

      However, it makes the spoiler be on its own line, in its own collapsible section. That is often inconvenient if you just need to spoiler out a character’s name from a sentence or something like that. I don’t know rust nor have the inclination/time to learn, but I do know python. So, I added the functionality to PieFed and then chimed in on the lemmy github issue to try to influence lemmy to incorporate the feature as well. However, it seems like they are content to let the github issue sit open indefinitely instead.

        Spoiler Test

        This is merely a test, do not be alarmed

        Looks like the Piefed app just applies unnecesary lines when you click the spoiler format button, chock it up to user error.

        ::: spoiler spoiler
        ___
        :::

    sync has never been updated since its release, the developer bailed - Summit is sweet though, and fully open source

    I guess it’s a lemmy wide thing, and given that Lemmy is developed by racist genocidal maniacs working for Russia and China, I have no sympathies.
