It’s a genre, the medium is animation.

Reverence for good art is no excuse of ignorance of the dogshit permanently associated with the genre.
- Comment on Both are annoying 2 hours ago:
I haven’t watched any anime since I started reading manga online, while not always better definitely not inferior and there is a lot more of it to choose from.

TBH the whole normalizing pedophilia thing is why I don’t suggest anime to people, despite my love of the media as a whole despite its flaws.

There was a recent e-bike company claiming to use this sort of technology but they were full of shit.
As cool as it is I hope it doesn’t become the new hype words for investors.

I think Mashle is one of the rare ones that stand out from the genre, but yes. Soul Eater was another.

The issue with Infinite Stratos is that it’s part of a genre of near exact plot copies. It’s almost always a dude who is accepted into a magic/scifi academy and catches the attention of the flame princess and builds a harem. The MC is always somehow a special unique case.
Infinite Stratos
Chivalry of a Failed Knight
Academy Battle City Asterisk
Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle
The Testament of Sister New Devil
Hybrid x Heart Magias Academy Ataraxia
The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy
Absolute Duo
Blade Dance of the Elementalers
Freezing
Myriad Colors Phantom World
World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman
HundredThe list goes on.

Might be able to find some wire in an electrical or automotive store. 20 guage is about a millimeter or less, 12 guage is between 2 and 3 mm. Do you have calipers to take a measurement?
Wire Coat Hanger might fit, will be harder so a better reinforcement.

They sell what’s called “plumbing snake”, cheapest is about $10, maybe that could reach further. I think the commenter before was alluding to moving the unit out from the wall and checking the back of it, but before doing so switch off as many breakers as you can because the appliance will be hardwired and in fact you might not be able to even pull it out until after you’ve disconnected the wires by hand.

Spoiler Test
This is merely a test, do not be alarmed
Looks like the Piefed app just applies unnecesary lines when you click the spoiler format button, chock it up to user error.

I guess it’s a lemmy wide thing, and given that Lemmy is developed by racist genocidal maniacs working for Russia and China, I have no sympathies.

- Comment on Magic represented by 2D patterns in anime and manga 2 weeks ago:
I wonder if it became popular around the time of Full Metal Alchemist.
Manga Authors have been taking more inspirations from western myth and folklore than they did 80 years ago, particularly the Alchemists who were fond of sophisticated patterns and diagrams, as well as celtic runes and even some Chinese sorcerors.
- Comment on You got me 2 weeks ago:
The entire field of chemistry, most of mathematics, the majority of history, etc didn’t exist yet. Depending on the region anatomy and physiology could be illegal. We didn’t have to know traffic laws, the vast majority didn’t need to know how to read and write. There were probably like 20 animals and insects total that an average person had ever even heard of.
Phone numbers? Only 8, but I have friends who could recite the entire story of the TV show Big Bang Theory start to finish.
TBH if you told me your name and shook my hand I probably wouldn’t remember it tomorrow because I have other priorities on my mind. Finite memory allocation memes aside it’s more of an issue of what we consider important in a more complicated and ever changing world.
- Comment on You got me 2 weeks ago:
TBF, there are a lot more things we need to learn and memorize today than back then. The odyssey could literally be like one of two things of media or entertainment in a persons life back then.
- Comment on Why is NERV hiring literal teenagers to pilot the EVAs?! 3 weeks ago:
A bit of a spoiler but they weren’t entirely wrong about that plan.
- Comment on Why is NERV hiring literal teenagers to pilot the EVAs?! 3 weeks ago:
I think there was a canonical reason like brain-elasticity allowing the pilot to interface with the EVA (which was actually problematic in some cases so they had to install a 1 directional filter for the teen to pilot the EVA and not vice-versa).
Also, pretty sure the EVA are literally crafted from the hybridization of DNA and godflesh and uses the pilot’s own mother as a base. It’s symbolic of the mother protecting their unborn child from the horrors of the outside world, including from their own father in Shinji’s case, but ultimately failing and all the characters developing trauma as a result. So if it were adults the symbolism would be mostly lost.
