When the game is described as a frustrating, unfair, exhausting experience, yeah, it ends up being “experiencing psychological pain = experiencing physical pain” which is exactly the parallel I was making, yes.
Hard is very different from unfair, and not knowing the difference shows a lack of understanding of game design.

In a way all games are “hitting your head with a hammer”. Some just have different hammers and maybe hit harder. But all of them have obstacles, difficulties, things standing in your way, enemies wanting to kill you.
It’s just that some people got too used to the light hammers and look for heavier ones ;)
Every once in a while the hammer misses and you can play for longer!
