- Comment on Why don't these code-writing AIs just output straight up machine code? 1 day ago:
Also, not everything runs on x86. For example, you couldn’t write a website in raw binary, because the browser wouldn’t run it. Or maybe you already have a Python library and you just need to interact with. Or maybe you want code that can run on x86 and ARM, without having to generate it twice.
As long as the output code has to interact with other code, raw binary won’t be useful.I also expect that it might be easier for an LLM to generate typical code and have a solid and tested compiler turn it into binary

Those that get paid per hour/day will notice a ~10% revenue decrease this month. But the amount of paperwork remains the same…

Well, I guess CrowdStrike (or anyone else) wouldn’t be happy if they had to suddenly rewrite their entire codebase for the new way. And it might be missing features at first, etc.
Here’s a quote from some security VP from Microsoft:
at this point, we have no plans to revoke kernel access from anyone. It doesn’t mean that can’t change in the future, but we have no plans to do that. Our goal is to create an equivalent, and an option, for user mode.
- Comment on Respawn have killed Apex Legends' Steam Deck support in the name of anti-cheat 6 months ago:
IIRC it’s more about allowing other ways to achieve that, rather than taking away what’s already possible, so anti cheat developers will still be able to ignore that

It’s kinda suspicious. You would expect that amount of light from a longer exposure time, but everything looks really sharp, including waves and the dinosaur, which I would expect to move. But maybe I’m underestimating how much light a proper camera can capture
