Nath@aussie.zone 7 months agoLemmy is not free. The user community funds the developers of Lemmy by direct donations. As for us, aussie.zone costs a little over $100/month to run. Our own generous users fund us.
While we don’t need to advertise to fund lemmy, be assured that someone somewhere is paying for it.

Lemmy is free, you can download it and host it yourself. Server costs are irrelevant to the software being free.

Unless you host shitjusworks, you’re not doing that.
In any case, I hope you’re donating to the developers who create Lemmy. Oh, wait. That would make it not free too.

Doesnt matter mate. Its still free software no matter how much you whinge it isnt.
Im going to go download it 5 times and not pay a cent, because its free.
