Yes, but also if someone is asking you to give up everything you own to be a part of a “a club of saved people”, that’s classic manipulative cult behavior. I feel like I can hate rich people and cults because they both exploit people.

I always interpreted as more in line with “If all these people are starving while you’re living in luxury, that makes you a thief and a murderer. You need to change that before I’ll assume responsibility for your moral solvency by accepting you as my follower.”
