I don’t see how it relates at all. The mod made a decision for their server and followed it through. That seems pretty fediverse to me. What would also be purely fediverse is if you created your own server then you could post whatever you wanted.

Well, I made a decision for my user account to create my post, and followed it through. That also seems pretty fediverse to me. And yet, here you are, trying to create a comment saying you disagree with my decision. In a public forum no less.

Yay, free speech at its finest. You having a right to say something doesn’t exonerate you from the consequences of said thing, nor does it protect you from other’s opinions about what you said. You’re butthurt, noted. Why should we care?

But, within the context of lemmy.ml worldnews, I don’t have the right to say this thing. That’s the whole reason we’re talking about this. Plenty plenty of times online and offline I’ve said some thing and everyone’s yelled at me about how I’m wrong, and that’s completely fine with me. Removing the comment is a different story. And yes, I got butthurt about it and came to complain about it. Is it legal? Sure, they’re not the government, so the first amendment doesn’t apply to them. Can I go somewhere else? Sure. Do I feel like complaining because the mod did that? Sure. And so, here we are.
If that behavior by mods doesn’t bother you once you read the context, then you’re not the target audience and you don’t need to care, no. That part is completely up to you.

Do you ask to speak with the manager when the bartender kicks you out of the bar for being a whiny little shit that’s disturbing other customers?
Same deal. If the owner doesn’t want you in the premises you have no recourse. This is not a public place. You have no rights here. Coming to .world to complain about what a .ml mod did is like complaining about the bartender with the patrons of the Wendy’s next door. Sir, we don’t care. This is a Wendy’s and you’re yelling at the customers.

yeah, and the owner of the server can swoop in and remove both if they wanted. That was my point?
Or you can build your own server and leave whatever comment you want and not remove it.

Oh, I understood what you were saying. I think you missed the point that I was making in response, but that’s okay.
