Rust991@lemmy.world 6 months agoI have the other side to print as well, and if I ever find a replacement battery I was thinking about making the battery removable. There’s a lot of wasted space in this phone.

Oh you meant physical space inside the phone and not data storage space.

Yeah, there’s approximately 3mm around the battery, which was almost free floating in the phone. When the back glass fell off, the battery came out with it.

That space may be there for safety reasons. Aging or mishandled lithium-cobalt batteries tend to swell. Giving them space to swell into reduces the chance of a fire or an explosion.
If you’re going to cram a larger battery into that space, be very careful of what kind you use, or you may find your phone literally burning a hole in your pocket.

I’ve had plenty of swollen batteries, the double sided tape I’m using would give way pretty easily to that luckily.
